Hi all, for many weeks now, my flight sim has been only loading to the welcome screen, but completely dysfunctional thereafter, not taking any input from mouse, keyboard, no chance of getting into options menu, launching a flight etc. I have completed every recommended troubleshoot exercise many times over. I logged a support ticket 6 weeks ago, and furnished numerous config files. Does anyone know if flight sim support will ever engage directly with me, or am I just left to call myself unlucky and try the game again in a few months? Have I any other options? I ran Heaven benchmarking and it was able to max out hardware with very impressive graphics etc.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Weird! but whatever 3rd party controllers you have sounds the most likely to me or possibly your PC thinks you have a gamepad.
Disabling everything in Task-manager/Startup settings and unplugging your peripherals is where you should start but you should also disable game mode and check your mouse settings etc. Your mouse might be set to too high a dpi, I know Corsair gaming mice have had such problems in other games.
With so many users, I very much doubt they will engage directly with you.
Waiting probably won’t help, as it seems to be user specific.
Is this from MS store, or Steam?
Hi fellas,
Its an MS Store install, I have disconnected everything, including mouse, Throttle and stick, stopped all non MS startups etc. The game was working very well into early Autumn, but some update somewhere has toppled it…
have you tried a system restore? that usually works for me
When you say you’ve tried every recommended exercise, I’m presuming youv’e looked through the “Support” section at the top of the forum screen.
One other thing I have seen do this is the internet.
I have seen a few stuck at this stage who resorted to using a VPN to install through.
I believe there are a few freeware ones out there, if you haven’t tried that, it may be an idea.

My entire PC?
I can barely believe it, flight sim support came back to me with an instruction to execute a clean install of latest nvidia driver.
Bingo
Wow, glad to hear that solves the issue!
Ok, here we go again.
- Remove everything in community folder.
- As stated above, remove all devices related to game, and Device Mgr., remove all USB deices and Bluetooth connections. You will have to restart so system finds and installs all of it again.
- At Command Prompt as Administrator. Run following commands in order, some restarts may be needed.
sfc_/scannow - Let it finish
Chkdsk_/F/R = This may need restart to run, it will ask you. Do as requested. - Make sure all X-Box/Game drivers from MS Store are downloaded and installed correctly.
- Make sure all updates to W10 or W11 are installed.
- Make sure Developer mode IS NOT ON.
- Good Luck.
- Some antivirus/firewall aftermarket software prevents game from running. Take off any aftermarket files of that nature, and let windows defender be your security system of choice.
If none of the suggested items fixes your install, you are facing a total complete reinstall. You can make this easier by coping the files stored on PC, however, this may keep the error going and not resolve. I guess I would uninstall and then reinstall the game. For me it takes 5 days to download it again, so if it breaks again, I am done.
Hey SevenFlyer,
Nvidia Driver (3070 laptop) must have been giving trouble… the new version is dated 20th Dec, and I thought I had this installed, but it took a proverbial “clean install” to get it to work.
Thanks for your time MeridianSquid71,
I am back in the air … Nvidia driver !!!
Welcome. Keep that info for the future. I usually run, the two command prompt commands about once every two weeks, and for sure before an update to the sim. Have fun.
A post was split to a new topic: MSFS Disconnects in 20-30 Minutes
yes, windows restore… it does not delete your files and takes about 5 min…
read up on it
