Today’s update is a game update, while Thursdays are Dev updates, or blogs. We have changed the names of these on the forum to reflect better what they are in the future!

ARGHH! When they say “development update” they mean - tell you/us about what’s happening with MSFS. A patch is a “update” to the program. So an update on the Development Roadmap is a patch to the program.

Isn’t this fun? :upside_down_face:

Maybe if you keep you MSFS running and don’t exit then maybe. But you will also need to set it to off-line mode. Good luck.

You should call the one today a “patch.” And then call the ones on Thursdays something like “Updated Development News.”

That would fix the misconceptions people have and a lot less grief for you.

We are discussing internally what the best course of action is. But yesterday we started making some changes already to the way we bring news, devblogs and patches to you on the forum, which you can see if you go to #community:news-and-announcements

A bit harsh, perhaps.
Sure, we don’t fly the logbook but it is a very useful tool.
The sim would be diminished without it.

Well, I’m confused. I’ve the patience of a saint and look forward to, whatever!

Ah today’s the day for more broken shenanigans.

Sure!, The calm water needs some more waves, but the general look is better now. The problem is they removed lights at night from the reflections, would be great to get them back.

I think the best way to call these things coul be:

  • software update = update/patch

  • developement info = developement report

there seems to be some confusion regarding updates like world, game. development, and patches would it be possible to have a days countdown icon to next game update somewhere on the forum title bar since we are hopefully going to be receiving these for the next ten years.

names “Dev updates” makes everybody crazy. “Dev news updates” like this make it clear.

I think, I have to agree “Dev news updates” would be the proper way of saying it. When people in general hear update in the gaming world, it is normally their software getting a update not their dev notes…

Sim changes=patch/game/sim/world update (depending on the changes)
Weekly dev reports=Weekly dev info update

Probably a stretch since the UK changed to metric in the 70;s and the Revolutionary war was in the 1700’s as I recall. I am not even sure that the French had invented metric by then. Nope according to this it started in 1799

The first metric system was introduced in France in 1799 . It has evolved and several versions were introduced over the years until 1960, when the General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM) published today’s version and called it the International System of Units (SI).

But what is a few years among friends

update is not good, this mean automatic software update

Let’s see… Since the very first announcement by MS that a new, next-gen Flight Sim would be coming in about a year, simmers everywhere requested functional needs including advanced flight dynamics, IFR functionality, ATC improvements, Multi-Monitor support, etc.
Then we got a release that was visually stunning but, in almost every other aspect, couldn’t match what is already out there. So simmers/forum posts asked again for these things and…
Patch no. 1… almost worthless.
Patch no. 2…fixed some CTD and performance issues, broke some flight functions…
Patch 3 & 4… fixed basically nothing as far as flight/nave/atc functions and made some things, including visuals, worse.

The only real improvements have come from mods by the community.

Now, give me a reason to be excited about the next update/patch…

Because we will no longer have to press the ‘any key’ to continue, obviously!
