Looking at the specs of that PSU, I would agree, this titanium 850w is good for your build.
At the end the ampere number is what matters, the watt not so much
My system is similar as well. I don’t know about “you should have no problems at all” statement. No matter what system you have you CAN run into issues. MSFS still has a lot of problems that, if we’re lucky and are finally fixed with the next MSFS 2024, will make the experience a pleasure. I stopped using the sim almost two months ago because the very issues you are having and I really don’t have the time or patience anymore to deal with it. The only thing I’m doing is kepping it updated as well as the third party addons but that’s it. I just start the sim about twice a week just to make sure it starts fine.
I have no problems with FS2020 on my system.
His system is far superior to mine.
So, I don’t see why he should have any problems.
FS2024 is not going to fix any present problems that a user is having.
The OP has a much better system than I do (i9-9900k and 4070) and I haven’t had any stability issues for a long time. But I tend to fly complete flights from C&D to landing. I never use the save and load flight feature which may be the problem.
Save and Load a Flight Plan from the World Map works.
Save and load a flight has never worked and has never been
planned to work by the developers.
What addons are in your community folder?
Sounds like its a conflict with one more of those
Have you run your sim with a empty community folder?
Does it still ctd?
When you update msfs do you change the name to your community folder so it doesnt scew up your addons?
Everytime in the past ive had a ctd its always been a conflict with a addon scenery
Just a suggestion good luck
Hi guys,
thanks for your answers. Here’s the latest thing I’ve also tried:
-
Started the MSFS 2020 “naked”, i.e. WITHOUT all the hardware connected to the PC. Unfortunately, this did not bring any improvement.
-
I normally always use DX12 in the graphics settings. Switching to DX11 in the meantime has unfortunately not brought any improvement in previous attempts either.
-
I have now not only updated the AMD chipset driver, but also completely reinstalled it. Especially because of the issue with the large cache on the Ryzen’s X3D
-
I checked the Windows Store again to see if the apps such as Xbox, Xbox Console Companion and Xbox Live are up to date. In addition, I have just repaired / reset these 3 apps again (very easy via the settings, nothing with PowerShell or anything like that)
-
Switched off the AMD Precission Boost Overdrive in the BIOS again. It was on before. I had also turned it off before as a test, but without any difference. The MSFS still didn’t run. - Nothing else is overclocked, not even the RAM. Incidentally, I was still able to play MSFS 2020 “normally” for the last few weeks (with AMD PBO switched on) - as far as you can call anything “normal” with this software garbage. - As soon as I sat in the cockpit and everything was finally running, I was able to fly completely stable for hours.
-
And no: the power supply was never the problem here. I can easily keep both components at a permanent 100% load with a total of 660 watts of power consumption (total PC) with two benchmarks running in parallel (one torments the CPU, the other the GPU) - I ran this for 2 hours at a time: Everything was absolutely stable. Incidentally, the room was a sauna afterwards.
-
Incidentally, I also noticed a connection with Windows Defender (despite the exceptions for the directories in which MSFS is installed): If Windows Defender is running in the background while I start the game: disaster. This causes the massive problems that led me to open this topic in the first place. - However, if I deactivate Windows Defender during the loading process (i.e. until I’m sitting in the cockpit) and then reactivate it: everything is fine, no problems. The problem is definitely new, I didn’t have it before. Windows Defender could run in the background from start to finish without any problems. Jesus, Microsoft… -.-
Everything is now running again, but I’m leaving Windows Defender completely deactivated during the game for “security reasons”. (Great sausage @ Microsoft, exactly because of SOWAS I actually always thought that I would probably be better off with the in-house security solution…) I can only (assume) that it must have had something to do with Windows Defender, the apps (Xbox, Xbox Console Companion and Xbox Live) or the chipset driver or something.
But whatever was to blame here: This filthy program really caused me nothing but trouble right from the start. Constant problems and trouble. I have NEVER seen such immature software in my life that causes as many problems as MSFS 2020. In comparison, even Windows ME was a paradise of stability and reliability, honestly now. I’m just massively ■■■■■■ off with this software. Everything I write here in this thread is just the tip of the iceberg. The bugs and problems
bugs and problems that have occurred before can’t be counted on your 10 fingers.
Technical support for a complex program like MSFS, installed on so many different hardware, is a “problem”>
The use either has to be an IT GURU, to figure out their particular issue or rely on FREE help from “who knows who” in a forum.
Some have no issues at all, or have stumbled on a fix, by design or accident, and now have a working stable system
Simmers , who once have had a stable system, now find their system to be Unstable,
So what are the options, especially when MSFS seems to run very well, and very stable on some PCs,
(1) Struggle to find out the cause yourself, and become an MSFS IT Expert.
or
(2) Get someone who is already an MSFS IT expert to fix the issue for you
If that someone a Friend, lucky you
IF they are not, and they are giving help to multiple people . they are either a VERY GOOD Guy, or they will want to charge for what could take some considerable time.
SO, for those who cannot fix the issues themselves, HOW MUCH are you willing to pay someone else to solve your problems for you.
And before someone asks, NO, I am NOT in the paid Supplying Tech Support market – if I were, I suspect I would soon be BROKE & out of business ,
and please, no Zendesk Comments !!!

MSFS’s saving grace, is that it has such a Great Community, willing to help each other …
**
Another thought … why do Players on X-box, with a Fixed, Know , controlled system , have varying issues with MSFS ??

UPDATE: Content Manager IS available to me… and I can see all of the things I need to install… the issue was that I never went through the menus, I was using the NOTIFICATIONS - which ought to be empty, right… so I went through the main menu, under PROFILE, and see Content Manager… everything I need to setup is there. I still have no clue as to how this SNAFU happened in the first place though!
END OF UPDATE
A couple of days ago, I was flying. I wanted to change to the Cessna Longitude, and fly another flight, but the aircraft had been in a different layout - and I finally realized I was missing a lot of aircraft… I never figured that out, but then, when I would restart FS2020, it would continually crash to the desktop.
I have NO IDEA what I had done, but just a little while ago - after reinstalling the sim twice over three days (we have painfully slow internet), I was having the same issues.
I do not have ANY third party stuff in the folder they tell us to disable, so I start in normal mode.
I STILL have problems, but I got the Ornithopter to show up, and I actually flew it a few minutes ago… THIS is how I got it and Top Gun stuff to work again…
I could NOT see anything in Content Manager, but off the wall, I tried to click on the Dune stuff, and it showed me in Content Manager (where I could see NOTHING) that I needed to install it - and THAT showed up, nothing else did, just Dune… so I installed it, and now that seems to work.
I did the same thing for the Top Gun stuff, but have yet to fly in that… and I am currently downloading the Red Bull material… all of which I had installed.
ALSO, I now seem to have all of the aircraft back, and the online store shows up - browsing the store, I see that I have all of what I ought to have, and it says Owned and Installed.
The Red Bull stuff opens up as does Top Gun and Dune… but I had NOT installed a lot of scenery (due to the size), so I wonder if the program, when reinstalling DID install all of it, or if I still have some issue, because when I installed Dune and Top Gun… and Red Bull - it showed that I had uninstalled stuff, but it would not show it to me… and I cannot currently to into Content Manager.
Very goofy stuff, but I can fly again.
I wish I could help OP. I also have hardware inferior to his, and the sim has never been smoother for me than it is right now.
I had the same issues as you. It was amroury crate causing the issue. Fully removed that and now rock solid. I even flew 10 hours from london to seattle.
Well apparently I jinxed myself, because now I can’t even make it out of the main menu at times. The latest CTD was during the new city update download. At first I thought it was an unstable GPU oc, but it was doing it at stock settings too. The event viewer was pointing to Logitech Options crashing in the background, so I thought that was interfering. I don’t need it since my logi mouse works fine without, so uninstalled. Was doing so good yesterday thinking i solved it, only to CTD an hour into the flight. Now the event viewer is giving generic Windows Error Reporting, LiveKernalEvents with no usable details I can figure out yet.
Update on my issue. I had actually forgot about this thread, but turns out it wasn’t the sim itself causing my problems. I eventually discovered the Logistics Options program was crashing extremely often in the background without any notification. It auto starts and runs in the background normally, which is why I didn’t notice it until digging into the event viewer more. I noticed every time the sim crashed, Options crashed immediately before it. I do have a Logitech mouse, but it doesn’t require that Options program. After I uninstalled it, the sim has been mostly trouble free once again (outside of my own over enthusiastic tuning related problems LoL).
