November 28, 2024 Development Update Blog Discussion

As for me, I have no problems with servers from second or third day of MSFS24 launch. All loads are fast, meshes and textures are great.

I just loaded the darn thing two days ago after sitting on my pre-order. Iā€™m over 900mbit up/down and ping 5 to the server. They did something to blur out the textures yesterday. Being I just want to play vanilla I have parked everything non native to 2024 in dummy community folders for now(including the Comanche), and turned off PG. You give up the obvious but itā€™s all the new trees and buildings. For building a basic career grinding out the PPL passenger missions on the coast of Florida, it looks much better with autogen buildings and trees and the LOD is way out there with PG off. Considering how good PG is in 2020 in the metro DC area(where I live and confirm everything in the area), that area is a mess in 2024. At least thereā€™s no tree pyramids for now while I get the inevitable grinding done and start honing settings. And set to 60fps without PG the LOD goes WAY out.

With all the third party and LL ā€˜parkedā€™ in purgatory for now the darn thing loads in under a minute. Iā€™ll just delete the folders as they get confirmed good to go and can be managed in MP. 'least Iā€™m just getting up and flying without tinkering. Even the autogen buildings on small GA fields looks pretty darn good actually.

Hello @phutyoo,

There were no changes made to the sim at all yesterday, either client-side or server-side. In fact, most of the team was off due to the US Thanksgiving holiday.

Thanks,

Well everything crisps up nicely without PG on. Every tree is rendered and thereā€™s dozens of aircraft on the apron and it runs like butter in 4K. I even tried EU and West coast servers that I only ping ~60 too and they looked muddy, like very early 2020 PG.

You can see the runway clearly 7-10 miles out without PG

Those only affect multiplayer, so that isnā€™t a factor.

Hello @phutyoo,

Changing your server in the sim only affects what other players you see in multiplayer. It does not change anything else such as which CDN you connect to receive online streaming data.

Thanks,

Well I missed the entire ā€˜first day painsā€™ at least, took me about 20 minutes total to install with zero crashes(other than the already broken aircraft being broken).

About two hours to figure out the absurdly idiotic control binding system(possibly the worst ever implemented in gaming history) and another 45 minutes disabling everything non native P/D 2024 vanilla. Which was moronic to force stream anything before MP management is available.

Figure in the interim going to get to a Ag work and/or advertising career to pass the time while they fix this.

It is achievable. If only the dynamic adjustment of terrain and object detail was a bit more advanced. For example, to prioritize object details (and perhaps just the terrain panorama) at and near the ground, and the terrain textures when flying higher. It can be seen in 2020 that a TLOD of 600 and object detail of 50 results in a beautifully sharp view of the ground while not taxing the system at all.

New info to me and Iā€™ll have to try that later today. How do the airport objects look when youā€™re on the ground though, for example?

Where do we go?

I think there should be a notice about that in-game. Itā€™s definitely quite misleading as itā€™s a totally cloud-based game so people assume that setting also changes CDN.

If you want to change your CDN you have to use a VPN to make the game think youā€™re playing from a different region of the world. Unless they literally randomize what CDN they send people to, a VPN will work.

I donā€™t need to do this personally as I live in the eastern US, but I hope it can help someone get better textures. I think it is clear they do throttle some regions due to lack of infrastructure. There are too many reports of that to ignore. Lots of US people, like myself, donā€™t have issues (with textures anyways), and many people come in and say the all too common ā€œit works for me, must be youā€.

I implore people to try using VPNs to make their experience better. They are super cheap and many of them have black firday deals. They are easy to setup these days, you just install their app and click a button

Ground textures? Where???
Pen and Teller are on the scene to try to magic them back, to no avail.
Leaving Teller speechless. :joy:

For me everything is sharp and performance is good.

You got it wrong, itā€™s 99,999 percent.
By the way I belong to the 0,001 percent.

BTW, how do we know if a plane has been updated? Can they be updated overnight without notification?
