the a/p will not let me climb in v/s mode over 1000fpm. is anyone else experiencing this issue or am i doing something wrong?

I just had some issues with the aircraft porpoising on autopilot at a 13000ft cruise. Speed was 140.
Had to stop, it was making me seasick.

I have a couple of minor issues that seem to be specific to the Islander AL.1 model (short nosed Army Air Corps version).

The fuel pressure indicators are stuck on ‘-4 PSI’, the fuel used indicator only increments the last digit, and the turn coordinator has a persistent ‘FAIL’ flag visible.

I also have a misaligned Barometric pressure indication on the Standby altitude indicator (all variants), it reads about 400ft above what the one on the garmin reads for the same pressure setting.

Tested and Present in both 2020 and 2024.

The aircraft itself is really good, and I especially like the custom avionics. However, the overly bright cockpit panel is bothersome. Is there anyone who can change this to dark or black? My computer skills are poor, so I don’t dare attempt the modification myself.

There appears to be a bug with the fuel selector switches on top for all variants - engine always takes fuel from the tanks on its side. This makes balancing fuel in fuel tanks very hard, especially when flying on single engine.

When flying single engine you can feed Both tanks to the operational engine

That is the opposite of observed behaviour. I was unable to get the left engine to take fuel from the right tanks, and shutting off the fuel valve did not stop the engine either. The valves seem to be bypassed completely and are hardcoded for left engine to use left tanks and right engine to use right tanks, unless I am doing something wrong.

I tried with both BN2T and BN2T-4S, Marketplace versions of the aircraft.

We will investigate but thats not as they were built :thinking:

Just tried this with the piston engined islander and this gives a similar if not identical result.

A selector set to off does stop the corresponding engine after a few seconds but selecting fuel from the alternate side does not stop flow out of the now unused tank. Seems like they used similar code for both and it’s not been identified as an issue beforehand.

Another little bug in that area - on the outboard fuel indicators the 10 and 15 are the wrong way around.

I have a question about Aux fuel pumps - POH tells me to turn them off once a safe height is reached, but doing that results in flameout, and engine stop unless the ignition is left to continuous, and even then I can see the engine do a repeated cycles of flameout and restart. Why is that? The POH strongly implies that there are engine driven pumps that should be sufficient by themselves, with the aux pumps only really useful during engine start, and also for regulatory compliance.

I also have a question about the auto fuel transfer switches - the POH states that the fuel transfer starts when the main tanks are down to about 35 US gallons. Observed behaviuor keeps the main tanks topped to full until the tip tanks are exhausted. This is explicitly advised against by the POH because it results in overfilling of the main tanks and fuel escaping through the fuel vents at the top of the tank, effectively just pumping perfectly good fuel overboard. I have not observed fuel being pumped overboard, but I have noticed the auto transfer pumps not working as described by the POH.

Are you planning to do a 2024 native version of the turbine islander?

but why did the piston islander get a native update then?

Because that’s what we decided to do as an entry point into Native 2024 ???
