Then more fool you. As soon as FS24 was announced I stopped purchasing items from MP in FS20. If my FS20 purchases come to FS24 then all well and good, but I will certainly will not be having hysterics if they do not. I do not recall any third party developer stating in the FS20 “This product will work flawlessly with FS24 when it eventually releases.” Not saying none did, but I certainly do not recall seeing that. I purchased FS20 MP items expecting them only to work in FS20.

The complaint was that they are all now DISABLED by MS. He even said 93% worked fine in FS2024 during the short period MS force-streamed all our 2020 addons to 2024.
Personally i got force-streamed some 2000 purchased marketplace addons, and 2024 handled it like a charm on XboxX. Some graphical glitches, but so what? Much better than 2020, which would crash randomly at any location or altitude.
Noones expecting devs to have provided 2020-addons which instantly work flawless in 2024. Noone even knew which addons would still work properly after each 2020 Sim Update!
The complaints are about the unlogical actions by Asobo/ms:
× First, agains their own promise, they enabled almost the entire 2020 marketplace content i 2024 without the devs’ approval, and no enable/disable option for the users.
× Then , understandably, they disabled it all (except planes) again, with the promise of adding the needed enable/disable option soon.
× Once they launched the enable/disable option, they still kept all disabled content unavailable, making the enable/disable feature pretty much useless at this time. Made the wait for enable/disable a waste of time.
× Since they already had almost all 2020 content available in 2024 for a while, it has created the customer expectancy that it will become available again asap (call it beta or whatever) with the enable/disable feature now active.
If they had stuck to their original plan, it wouldnt have become such a mess.
Of course on Xbox it’s marketplace or nowhere…
There are a couple of items I’ll be pleased to see when the marketplace opens up, but I can wait.

How on earth is their response “offensive”? It’s absolutely correct what they said. Just because an opinion doesn’t align with yours does not deem it “offensive”.
It is a logical business decision with several open fronts not to open another one. With hundreds or thousands of addons available at the same time through marketplace I can already hear people blaming the base sim although it‘s an incompatible airport or scenery or aircraft. They want to make sure that what is available via marketplace is running and reliable. I think it‘s worth the wait.
Agreed. I’m happy to wait if it means a better chance of an add on working. I’m waiting for PMDG to update their Boeings for FS24. They do tend to be slow at this sort of thing (including fix patches) compared to, say, Just Flight who have already played their RJ100 “study level” aircraft to FS24. But I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait.
If a customer (OP) expresses a legid request and a very experienced dev (Aerosoft/PMDG) writes a response meaning “your request ist not valid” / “it’s your own fault”, which does not align with Jörgs promises of (eventual) addon transfer, then I take offence by that dev. My feelings. It’s just how it is.

I think the actual figure Jorg quoted was under 3000 add ons in marketplace.

Can’t quite agree with your sentiment here - I bought one scenery add-on and it is a good one, for my local airfield. It recently just stopped working for no discernable reason.
I went to look for contact info on the dev’s website, only to find that the only way you can try and get in touch is by Discord.
Not acceptable. I stopped using Discord a long time ago after experiencing their attitude to online security, and have no intention of installing it just for one dev.
They need to have as a minimum either an email address or a contact form on the site. Won’t ever buy another product from them.
AFAIC buying from dev’s is not the definitive answer. Not only that - a couple of the dev’s I bought add-on aircraft from have terrible download servers.

Everybody who had been around a while knew that was a dangerous call to make from Microsoft. When FS2020 was announced they claimed most FSX DLC would work and they dropped that claim even before it was released.
Just sit tight, if you want your FS2020 content, just use FS2020 (still a fantastic sim, right?) and we’ll see what will happen. Microsoft is hard at work, let’s give them some time.

I’ve seen posts warning me off the Marketplace pretty much since the start of MSFS 2020, and I understand why.
More money goes to the actual developers of the addon (we hope, though one way or another delivering content is a service for which they’ll have to pay), updates are likely quicker, and though things seem to be better now (apart from the current disappearance of our sceneries from 2024) there have been horrendous experiences in the past - I once bought three addons in a day and was charged twice for two of them, and it took three weeks and a blizzard of emails to get the mistake fixed.
But.
We are fools to ourselves if we think that MSFS in either version exists in order to allow us to simulate flight. Yes, it does let us do that, but that’s not its main purpose.
That would be to make money for Microsoft, and if it isn’t doing that to Microsoft’s satisfaction then our flying fun will evaporate like the proverbial spit on a griddle.
So, while I do sometimes buy addons from third parties for one reason or another, I mostly grit my teeth and shop in the Marketplace, because I’m quite old and I’d sort of like the sim to outlast my ability to play it.
I don’t see why they couldn’t have give us the option to enable/disable airports like they have done with ported 2020 aircraft
