As the title says my GPU goes from 100% usage down to 70% after 1-2 hours of flight resulting in loss of fps from 40-50 down to 15-25 making the sim almost unplayable. Anyone else having this issue and knows how to fix it?
Never had these issues before.
I’m on DX11, TAA and the latest Game Ready Driver.
If you are using 70% of the 3090 and get 20fps I suppose you are maxed out in all settings. I have steady 50-60 FPS using 60% of my 3080.
Anyway. Check your temps. If you are always running at 100% is possible that the GPU is heating too much. Try a more aggressive fan profile using afterburner or something similar.
IMHO: Try not to live with the GPU always running at 100%. They are tested and built to work at 100% but life of the GPU will get shorter for sure

I hear what you are saying but I don’t agree. Every other games which are optimized correctly uses 100% of the GPU which are intended to run at 90-100%. And temps are fine, sitting around 68-70 degrees which also where they should be.
I also think that I solved my own problem. I disabled V-sync and noticed a much smoother performance with increased fps aswell.
If your GPU is not running 100% then you are bound by something else, more than likely the CPU or another component.
No mate. CPU was at 50-70%. I had the taskmanager open all the time. Everything was the same and at the beginning GPU ran at 100% as it should. 1-2 hours into the flight I started to have major stutters, GPU went down to around 60% and fps dropped by 50%.
How are you monitoring the CPU? Unless you are looking at each core, you can’t go based on total usage, FS2020 uses 19-20% of my CPU as a total, but 2 cores are 80-100%.
I’m not monitoring each core. But the if it was a mainthread issue then I would have those low FPS from the beginning. Even more so as as airports are way heavier on the performance than 38000 feet in the air. But I had great performance from the start. Thats why its so wierd. It’s like GPU just stopped working all of a sudden.
