NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready Driver 531.79 Discussion

spatialpro,

I do not use NVcleaninstall, I cannot answer your question. You could try the developers web page or a forum, or try it for yourself. You might get an answer on this forum from someone…

Thanks for the follow-up…using 2080 super is a non start with DX12 for me…and seems to be from what I’m reading, with a lot of 4000 series.

I got 2 CTDs using filters on latest nvidia driver – ASSUME it’s because I was using the Nvidia Freestyle filters, but not sure. :frowning:

That’s clearly listed as an issue for this one and the previous drivers that using nvidia filters result in a ctd.

Better for me so far
I’ve had to roll back all drivers since April due to the crash/overheat bug on an RTX 3080

I did a 4.5 flight test from Tahiti to Fiji and had no issues, apart from one graphics/terrain glitch around north east Fiji
That looked like an infinite terrain height issue, I just flew right through it

Having said that, the MSFS crash is still listed as an open issue since 531.41
I cant include the link, but just google “GeForce GRD 531.79 Feedback Thread”

This is what I got after installing v531.79.

I had this EXACT same issue, but I was on 531.29. Reinstalled the driver and all was ok, had it yesterday.

Rolled back from 531.79 to 531.68 and so far, so good on my 2080 Ti.

Here 1660+531.79+DX11 and no problem at all, no CTD for days.

How is the CPU usage in this new driver? The 531.29 had a lot lower CPU usage and the following ones were way worse. I have yet to use this new one, in fear that it is still a mess.

I had annoying stutters with DX12 until I rolled back to 528.24. Silky smooth after that! I’m gonna stick to that version for now.

i7-12700K, RTX 4080

I spoke too soon
No issues flying almost all day earlier this week
Tonight I had the overheat CTD message just setting up my flight plan before I took off
Rolling back again

In my experience:

  • Far better performance (less CPU bound - YMMV, depends on your CPU)
  • DLSS 3 / frame generation
  • Slightly better colours/grading. DX11 for me looks slightly blue and washed out.

Thanks for the info! Perhaps I’ll give DX12 another go…

Same for me : “Microsoft Flight Simulator has encountered a graphics problem. This could be due to the video card overheating, overclocking error, or faulty driver. MSFS will now close.”, tryed 3 times, back to 531.29
RTX 3060Ti DX12

Same for me : “Microsoft Flight Simulator has encountered a graphics problem. This could be due to the video card overheating, overclocking error, or faulty driver. MSFS will now close.”, This happened with my system often enough to be rather annoying over the past week. It appeared to break things over scenery intensive areas but not anywhere else. As others have done I have reverted to 531.29 and the problem has not reoccurred in the around 3 hours I have been testing.
