NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready Driver 560.81 Discussion

So which driver actually worked great with DX12 and frame generation?

You guess wrong. MSFS2020 has to sync data from multiple sources and is very sensitive to vram clock changes. Turn that switch off and test for yourself.

I seriously doubt that is the issue .. man , as i’ve written above ..i am now on 556.12 and everything is OK .. and always was ok ..and now with drivers 560.81 and 560.70 everything is broken ..wtf ?
I dont exactly knows what is the clock speed difference between those 2 bioses , but i’m using only the gaming bios . I definitely will not switch it to silent bios  i want power and max cooling efficiency . Only MSFS has problems with those new drivers .. all other games , ok . So Asobo needs to adress this issue with Nvidia , something is really wrong in their code or driver itself .

Different drivers give different performance levels which is probably why some are more stable than others and some are more sensitive than others. Somewhere on these boards is a 3 or 4 thousand long thread from users that suffered this very same issue when it first cropped up and undoing gpu overclocks was the cure for most of them. Just remember that Nvidia or Asobo did not overclock your gpu and so they will not take responsibility for it’s misgivings while it is OC’d.

I’ll just add that all other games are not MIMO’s and they are often sandboxed to work within set parameters while MSFS has few such limits. To set boundaries that keep OC’d cards within spec will likely result in reduced performance for everyone else.

  Srsly i can’t … if their game is sooo sensitive like Karen in the restaurant , then its their issue ..not mine . I bought great GPU , and only thing i touched was this little switch for gaming bios or maybe it was default     . That’s all .. i am not overclocking anything . Why would i want descrease my performance ? just why ? .. i would rather not play MSFS anymore , its trash if this is the issue sorry . And quiiick little reminder ..the game is playable , nothing is overheating , no CTDs .. but only this annoying little popup .. which you can’t touch otherwise game will crash . I just wait until some Asobo dev join this thread or maybe until next driver is released . Srsly any other solution ? without touching my HW ? :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s a sync issue rather than heat. The bios can stay, you can simply use Afterburner or similar to limit the clockspeeds for MSFS.

Thanks , reported

This is normal load , clock speeds etc in 556.12 , stable .. as you can see way above stock speeds even in gaming bios (stock 1830 MHz) - clearly some sort of auto boost .
BTW - The issue is during game start  there is 210 MHz .. the sequence is - press MSFS.exe , wait about 1 minute or less , then popup appears - during main loading screen. No GPU load at all .
But anyway issue reported so , will see

The gpu clock speed in not so much an issue, I overclock mine. However video memory speed is critical for the sim and unless you happen to have an oscilloscope handy then overclocking it is always risky in MSFS.

Mind you looking at your screenshot I can see it’s probably not vram causing it. With having such good temps sightly raising voltages could well help, small steps and test inbetween. If no joy by 10% then I suspect the issue is a set limit in the sim, return volts back to normal and incrementally decrease the gpu overclock until the pop-up stops appearing.

Hi, filters work just fine here on .81.
But I had to install the new Nvidia App (that unifies NVIDIA Control Panel, GeForce Experience, and RTX Experience).
Not used it before, but filters were the same - with some more options.

Otherwise .81 seems pretty good on my system: dx12, 4080, 7900x3d, nvidia filters, fg.
Best off all Ive not had any CTDs (yet) changing from fullscreen ↔ windowed or going back to main meny (would sometimes CTD before) :crossed_fingers:.

Once again , the issue is present in complete idle => no load , imagine idle memory speed - i’m guessing right now 410-1000 MHz tops ? something like that and 210 MHz GPU clock speed - at this time , only CPU has some minor load because the game just started loading . I would make a video , step by step , second to second  but unfortunately i’m not installing new drivers any time soon . My patience (and mental health ) has some limitations
But anyway i will continue to read this thread , maybe some magic solution or another driver update will be available .

Not having the same gpu I can’t be 100% certain but usually video memory speed is set and doesn’t boost with the gpu clock. In afterburner your vram appears to be at stock

Went back to 555.85. Main thread seemed totally overworked, solid red. 2080 super

No , it’s not set . Just checked afterburner now 210 GPU Clock / 405 Memory . I have the ,Power management mode’’ in Nvidia control panel on - ADAPTIVE or NORMAL nowadays , i dont know if this affects Memory speed aswell , but it does GPU clock speed , and for my use , i prefer normal mode .

In my experience it doesn’t change, only the gpu clock does. If overvolting doesn’t help your only choice is reducing the latter.

I had EXACTLY the same problem! (I have 4090 too) I rolled back to 556.12 as recommended and it seems everything is ok now. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

NP , i hope Nvidia will respond to my report , I’ll wait until the next driver , and if the problem persists , I’ll start solving it by myself , but it seems to be complete random who gets this issue and who doesn’t .

I cannot fully explain this but the latest NVidia driver (560.94) has cheered up my world. After nearly a year of tweaking and sucking up every known drop of YouTube snake oil I rarely got better than 25FPS and lots of stuttering. Now all of a sudden I get anything between 35 and nearly 60FPS. I know I’m running on the margin but even so such an improvement.
My rig:-
Dell XPS 17 9720 Core i7 laptop - refresh 60
Windows 11 Home - 23H2
32Gb Ram
NVidia 3060 GPU (laptop) 6Gb VRAM
Nvidia Control Panel pretty much out of the box except for max power setting, vert sync off, and texture anisotropic on.
TalkTalk router connected direct via powerline and cat 6E lan cable
MSFS 1.37.19.0
Mainly medium settings except anisotropic 16 to avoid fuzzy centre lines.
OpenXR Toolkit when in VR - nearly the same FPS as PC
Quest 3 Headset - given up on Link cable and discovered VR Desktop solves all my VR performance and CTD problems.

Happy chap!

Ah, was hoping I wasn’t the only one  Maybe report it as a bug?
