Is anyone else experiencing this issue? It began after updating to driver version 581.29 a couple of days ago. After some troubleshooting, I’ve narrowed it down to when NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation is enabled.
That’s like something from a horror movie! Never seen it before on my system.
I think the closest thing to it I’ve seen in the past was when there was a flaky/loose cable connection between the monitor and the computer’s graphics port.
I also seem to remember there being some intermittent flickering that occurred a couple of years ago when I changed to a certain mode/feature in my ASUS monitor. I don’t remember what, though.
But nothing like that purple flashing in your video…
Finally a version that works on my ASUS 5080.
In the famous words of Napoleon’s mother: “I hope it lasts.”
I’ve been running this driver on my RTX5070 and it’s been good. No noticeable difference from the last driver.
So thumbs up from me ![]()
Same here. Still getting CTDs on loading with my 5090…
Only 577.00 is working for me.
Here is the behavior that occurs when Smooth Motion is active along with DLSS FrameGenerator.
Check if it is not enabled through the NVIDIA App.

Right now I’m running 581.15 for my ASUS RTX 4060TI the sim is stable and I run DX12 I had maybe one small “DXGI” ctd error a few days ago but nothing ever since. The stutters aren’t always but if they do happen it’s micro stutters. Is it safe to upgrade to this version? I always use DDU to completely remove and reinstall, but the sim has been really unstable since the sim update a few months back for MSFS2020. I’m worried about if it ain’t broke don’t fix it but the stutters are annoying and previously I had zero.
Is there any advantage to upgrading to the latest drivers if one has an RTX 3060, or does this benefit only the later generations of GPU? The 580.xx prevented the sim from loading and I have been wary ever since.
That’s a very controversial question with differing opinions/answers based on experience, etc.
Bottom-line/my opinion:
Newer driver versions often include security updates that generally go unpublicized. However, if you are generally happy with the performance of your current driver and you are NOT the adventuresome/beta-tester type, it’s probably best to just sit tight until NVIDIA releases a less controversial version than this 58x. series.
Thank you for your reply.
Yes I am happy as it is now, so I am going to follow your advice.
Appreciate it.
I have a RTX3070TI and use this driver with no issues at all. Settings high end Frame gen enabled runs okay for me. I do mostly fly in Australia so not sure how it will handle all big cities in Europe etc.
Never change a running system ![]()
Yes I have been bitten badly by changing a working system ![]()
However, sometimes I wonder if I am missing out on some big improvements. But for now my sim is working well in 2020 even with the downgraded graphics of SU16😏
I just want to go on record saying that I have an RTX 3070 GPU and have not experienced any noticeable NVidia driver version issues with this or any of their other periodic updates.
However, I do tend towards setting more modest, less demanding graphics settings - particularly FPS, than perhaps most others do.
For example: PC Store version, no VR, no airliners, anti-aliasing is ALWAYS TAA, FPS always capped at 30/35FPS, resolution 2560x1440, refresh 120hz, render scaling 100 or less, TLOD & OLOD max 100, rest of the graphics settings no more than high or less than medium and many of them just turned off, I.E. blur, DOF, traffic, etc.
The internet “scuttlebutt”, for those having NVidia driver problems with later versions, though, generally recommends rolling back to V 566.36.
So if all else fails, there’s always that…
Thank you for your reply, always interesting to know others settings.
My 3060 does not have frame generation, that I can find, and I have similar settings as you, I don’t need crisp mountains at 200 miles. I was under the impression that it was best to have the latest drivers as promoted by Nvidea etc. But one day the sim would not load, all I got was a red ERROR! Followed by a 30 digit error code. Took me two days of angst to figure out it was a specific driver.
It’s working great now, and I suspect I could figure it out faster if it happened again (maybe) .
Like one person said “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it “![]()
RTX 30.. series do not have DLSS 3 Frame generation. This starts in the RTX40.. series onwards. You would have to use Lossless scaling or optiscaler.
But as you say, if it aint broke leave it alone!
With this Setup:
Laptop Asus ROG G713PV {
RTX 4060m
Ryzen 9 7845HX
32MB DDR5-4800
Win 11 24H2 up to date
}
MSFS 2024 works fine on my side, as with 580.88: no issue noticed so far, stable and good performances in High settings (except Texture res and Shadow raytrace: intermediate), around 70-80 FPS in VFR flights with DLSS
Side note: driver runs fine also on ETS2 and ATS as well, and Microsoft Modern Standby can get to sleep DRIPS state (same as 580.88)
581.29 is a good pick for this platform AFAIK
Just for the record this driver is still working for the ASUS 5080. I also finally got VR equipment and works fine with this driver. Woooooooooo VR!
