NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready Driver 610.62

I am still using this version with no issues in a 5080.

Surprise …

I previously compared buggy drivers with what I think is the best driver for 50XX GPUs, which is 577.00. I decided to check again to see if anything has changed. I tested, of course, with ā€œPrefer maximum performanceā€.

I still consider driver 577.00 to be the best for my RTX 5090. Keep in mind that newer drivers also include security updates.

The choice is yours.

Thank you Captain!

I know your response was primarily to the other person, but I would like to actually see a comparison with Prefer maximum performance enabled and disabled if you ever do it. Or I guess I suppose I could just do it myself.

I don’t really have time to test buggy drivers right now - that’s the first thing.

Second, charts won’t really tell you much in this case anyway, because what matters more is how it actually feels while gaming. You can have a graph that looks fine, but the in-game experience between ā€œMaximum Performanceā€ and ā€œNormalā€ can feel completely different. For example, I get less stuttering and slightly better performance with ā€œMaximum Performanceā€ and I’m not the only one who’s noticed that.

Just play whatever feels best for you. I use Maximum Performance, you can stick with Normal.

I’m not trying to be argumentative, just genuinely curious. My experience was that it made no difference, at least no discernible difference. That was a while ago though. And I don’t dismiss what you’re saying because I’m a ā€œfeelā€ guy who was dragged kicking and screaming into ā€œshowing the dataā€, so I know it can’t always be seen. I would think though that less stuttering and better performance would be demonstrable in the data.

But I get it, all good.

For me it was actually the opposite - I noticed the game feels better with Maximum Performance - obviously on a non-buggy driver.

Which driver is buggy?

Among others, the latest drivers.

I don’t really have time to keep going back and forth on this conversation, so I’ll leave it here for now

Fly safe mate.

The two latest drivers are the best I’ve ever tested.

I actually found a moment right before the Portugal vs Spain match to reply. I’m hoping Ronaldo wins. Portugal and Ronaldo kind of deserve it at this point, he’s just one of those players who genuinely keeps pushing and still wants it badly.

Just keep in mind that our gaming setups are quite different. I play in 4K and I’m on an RTX 5090.

For the RTX 50XX series, in my experience, the latest drivers aren’t necessarily the best. I’d say 577.00 has been the most stable and smooth for me on this generation.

When I was still on an RTX 4090, I found (and this was also supported by some game developers’ feedback) that 566.14 and 566.36 were among the best drivers in terms of stability and smoothness.

I can’t really test older ones anymore since all my current PCs are already running RTX 50XX.

Gonna be an interesting day between that and Balogun, but I digress. Enjoy the game(s)!

Excuse me guys! There is no time for Football j/k  SU6 BETA is here.

And just a reminder before entering beta…

Happy flying!

I would say, though, that there’s a difference between getting better performance with another driver on your particular setup vs. labeling a driver to be ā€œbuggyā€. That to me infers a general issue with the driver that would affect a large number of users.

And tough day on the pitch yesterday. We (USA) got embarrassed.

The NVIDIA changelogs clearly show that certain driver releases have performance impacts, and I’ve seen that myself as well. That’s all I wanted to point out, so I’ll leave it at that.
