NWS is wild! Is this a bug or just a bad aircraft?

Nose Wheel Steering is really strong (I think). I’m having to twist my stick’s axis by about 45deg to correct it as I take off - but even at taxi speeds it’s pulling me all over the place.

It ‘feels’ like wind sheer as I’ve tested in both directions on the runway (in only in a 5-9 knot wind) and seemingly get an opposite pull.

I’m using a brand new, just calibrated VKB Gladiator and flying is just fine.

Aircraft Cessna 172.

Anyone here?.. hello?

‘Weathervaning’

I agree that it probably is but it seems so severe.

Try with the clear weather preset. You should get left turning tendency (normal). Get used to that.

Then try with some custom winds - set a true cross wind of 5knts from each side and see how it handles. Use rudder to counteract.

Set it up by increments to 10-12 knots (the max demonstrated cross wind in a C172) Remember to position aileron fully into the wind as you start your t/o roll easing it as you gain speed (to stop the upwind wing lifting). Continue to use rudder to counteract the vaning.

The stock C172 is good - no major flight model bugs with it, but it’s a known issue in the SIM for aircraft to weathervane pretty excessivel, although there have been recent improvements with some aircraft.

If you still have problems look at your controllers sensitivity curves in control settings. They may need fine tuning.

Final point - no NWS on a C172!

As long as it’s a known issue - and not just me - that’s great! Thanks for the tips.
