I love how all these pseudo-experts who have never experienced the issue, know what does NOT cause the issue. Drives me crazy.
I have the same identical issue that OP is experiencing, at it is most definitely, without a doubt, due to the object limit.
It started happening to me when I installed GSX and FSTraffic, and it would only happen at very large airports with loads of extra plane and ground vehicles. I knew there was an issue because GSX would work but the vehicles would not show up, and invariably every time it did that, the destination airport would have no buildings or object of any sorts, only GPS imagery.
Also, as OP said, every time this happens MSFS doess not quit properly, and you have to terminate the process from the Task Manager.
Now every time I load at an aiport I call immediately GSX, and if the vehicles show up I know I’m ok.
I have received a refund for FS Traffic because of this and I now use only FSLTL, which lessens the problem even though it can still occur. I have not found a solution to date.
