Whenever I had this problem, it was because of an texture size mismatch. You must make sure that the size is allways something like 256x256 or 128x256 (it works also with 512,1024,2048,4096, etc…) the error message in the console is not very helpful, but if you don’t keep it that way, your object will never show up in the Scenery Object selector.
