just ordered me one today. I do heli flying and trying to work the gns430 on the default r66 is quite the task. hoping this will make tuning and working the menus a lot easier!!
Im glad it works!
Yes, i havent figured out how to add transponder for the g1000 and autopilot is not mapped because I use the honeycomb bravo amd all those controls are there.
Ill try to add it
Im not sure it will work with the gns430, all the mappings are for the g1000. Let me know if you have any issues.
Ohh, I apperchiate that !
I tried to ahve a go myself and looked at the snipped in SPAD but imemdiately realised that this goes waaaaaaaay over my head and my SPAD skill level.
Right, i have added transponder and autopilot controls.
The transponder works with inner and outer knob to change the first two digits and the second two (use swap button to change between the two). Going into shift makes the outer knob change the transponder mode (this works in the gns but not in the g1000, ill keep looking into it) in shift mode the swap button acts as IDENT.
Counterclockwise action on the transponder doesnt work as intended, ill try to fix it at some point too.
Autopilot controls work in any mode other than FMS1 and 2 as they where not in use, the knob to select altitude and vertical speed only works in AP mode though.
If you let me know everything that doesnāt work either in the g1000 or the gns ill try to fix it.
FMS1 and 2 in gns dont work yet but g1000 should be 90% functional now.
Cheers
Apprechiate that a lot - I will look at it but it actually might be after chrismas and new years until I get around to it. Its that time of the year, yanno.
I am pretty savvy with Spad so I can make some mods to get it to work. One question, Do you have the rotary set to just plus and minus? So can do a nav select button and then the rotary works nav when its selected?
As these things go, I DID manage to find some time to check and it seems everything works great, both in 2020 and 2024 !
However, I only had time for a very quick check so I may have missed something.
Thanks a lot once more for all your work !
No, itās way more prescriptive. I have the honeycomb configured like that and I had some instances where the IFR1 knob would act on the honeycomb selection and I wanted to be able to manage things like alt and vs with honeycomb and coms and navs with the IFR1.
I will gladly take in feedback for improvements
Thats how I have my bravo configured as well. My Octavi comes in today so I am looking forward to playing around with it and getting it to work!
Hopefully you have success.
My software installation using the basic install Octavi recommends always says it is connected to MSFS2020 even though I no longer have MSFS2020 on my PC.
Never needed SPAD or any other software in the past so not gonna do that now.
@jvcervero
Everything works great for the g1000 however the baro knob only goes one way. I didnt see it programmed in SPAD. Whats the best way to go about programming it in your snippet?
oh, didnāt realise that. itās probably a counter-clockwise binding missing in the knob. I donāt have SPAD in front of me, but off the top of my head, I would say itās a counter-clockwise action, condition should be com2 selected and shift (local variable) set to 1, search for the sim event for baro increase and add that as decrease.
should be an easy fix, Iāll post an updated version tomorrow if you donāt want to tinker with it
Weird! I checked my spad.next and both clockwise and counterclockwise are there and work for me . Iāll double check inside the sim later today.
it looks like in SPAD its setup that way. I checked and the outer knob conditions are set the same for CW rotation as CCW rotation but CW still decrements. Its very strange. I cant get the heading or CRS knobs to turn even if I have either CRS1 or CRS 2 selected on the PFD softkey.
Other than this, it works fantastic. I use this with combo keyboard shortcuts for the PFD and MFD softkeys and it works amazing. I had to memorize the 12 bottom softkeys like 6 pfd is CRS 8 PFD is XPDR etcā¦but its worth it to quickly program and get back into the flight.
I see what you mean! I have updated the snippet, it should work now correctly for the baro. I couldnāt find different variables for CRS1 and CRS2, so NAV1 + Shift changes CRS on the G1000, if you let me know the specific plane you are flying I can try to create the bindings for that.
awesome thank you!! Thats ok on the CRS ones, I am sure with time 2024 will get these sorted out. The g1000 is a bit bugged right now.
I am using primarily on the default 172 and 208
yes, Iāve seen different behaviour in different planes with the G1000. the variable ALT_BARO_KNOB_RIGHT / LEFT is the most reliable, but that will make the profile specific for MSFS2024. Iāve left all three in the snippet, you can play around with the ones that work best for the planes you fly.
thanks my friend!!! Appreciate the work!
