Hi @Baracus250
Listen at this point: Twitch
Dunno how I missed that, thanks!
Nice stream, but I feel like the answer to the question re: âtexture resolution and colorâ focused too much on having the right season-based color etc. When it was also very much about resolution and zoom level.
Itâs not just about stitching together the textures with the nicest colors, but should be about ensuring that textures can start looking as good as they used to in 2020, both in 2020 and 2024.
did they say anything on the airport scenery gateway ? its not available since ages. why dont they get the community to work on inaccurate taxiways.
You have to remember though for many of us, we are thrilled with the current weather system. There was a marked improvement during this SU in my opinion. Maybe other systems do weather a bit better but, from what I hear from the most tech savvy users, we are getting wonderful weather considering the complexity of this sim and the resources available. Most of the negative comments I see seem awfully vague about what they believe is broken. Some include screen shots where Iâm puzzling over what is wrong. Vote in wish lists if it bugs you a lot but for me there are far more important areas to be tackled (such as traffic)
I donât think thatâs true, many of the dissatisfactions have been very clearly laid out. (No visibility limits / humidity, no cloud turbulence, or indeed any impact, snow in places / temperatures there shouldnât be any, only two cloud types, lack of layers, etc. etc. etc.)
The question was ânow that night lighting has been fixed, when will atmosphere and clouds be improved?â Seb then spent a few minutes talking about the night lighting, and a few seconds saying âthe other stuff will get done in future SUs.â
Given how much has been written about this on multiple forums, itâs disappointing to have so little said about this really quite critical part of the flight simulations experience. Again.
Quite incredible that it took this long really. You would think that a product manager would know this kind of thing before the product was even released, especially given the 5 years of 2020 experience.
Another odd one. It made sense to include them in the product, but not support them long term. Future me will bear that in mind, Iâm sure. And Iâm hoping future Jorg also considers excluding the developers responsible, assuming they are not MS/Asobo, from participating in future bundles.
Agree very much; it was disappointing that the qabout the weaather was kindaâ glossed over.
I can understand he wanted to discuss the new night lighting- and theyâve done a great job on that - but overall the whole weather system needs a work over and I donât think they quite grasp the scale of the demand for thisâŠ
I havenât watched the video yet, but from what I have read this fits what we have seen for seemingly years now. They are very invested in not discussing that topic, even if we follow their advice of voting up threads, and asking dev. Q&A questions.
The only thing we can do is ensure we keep hammering them with questions about it, through usual channels of course, so they cannot ignore it.
And with them now back porting planes the amount of packages they have to support increases again. So they are now maybe at something like 200 packages they have to maintain? Thatâs just insane
And when Jörg said for some planes it doesnât make sense to update them I thought about things like the wright Flyer for example. It really does not make sense to upgrade it with 2024 features
Anyone else remember when they said that they were leaving it up to third party developers to create the planes? I 'member.
As I said above, Iâm fairly certain the âdoesnât make senseâ comment was regarding porting 2024 default aircraft into the 2020 Marketplace as he cited balloons and the lack of proper physics simulations for those in 2020 - but I could be wrong, I havenât rewatched the stream yet.
Why is the bug snapshot never cleaned ? I get it that some bug stay in the list because of their complexity and are not 100% fixed or fixes need few updates but some bugs as âh125 trim not workingâ (from november 2024) marked âby designâ will never evolve so why keeping it in the list ?
Their is also some bugs/wishlist marked as âIn Progress SU3â but we are now on SU4 so ?
Thats would leave some space for other recent bugs with less votes and let us having answer of what their actual state for the dev team
Yes you are correct. He said it in regards to back porting. Maybe I am just imagining it but I thought he said the same in the past about bringing all planes (especially FF) to a native 2024 version and I thought in the 8th October stream the comment was a nod to that? But I could be totally wrong about this.
I would appreciate a clarification on this topic. Especially since they are selling the aviator edition for PS5 and some of the planes still canât be flown
Clouds generally look nice, imho.
What we lack are related hazards flying into clouds. No turbulence, no up-/downdrafts, no iceing, no hail. Where are the CBs/TCUs stretching up to 30k+? 3d-WX radar?
Give us a reason to avoid bad WX. Its such an important part in aviation. Now clouds are just for looksâŠ
The bug list said the ATC window resize issue was fixed in SU3, but it absolutely was not. Unless itâs referring to something else, I still can barely see any ATC response/options with no way to resize and I only bought FS24 after SU3 came out.
I remember in the early days of FS24 I flew into a yellow weather band in icing conditions in the A330 and lost my indicated airspeed to icing and I was so excited by this. So some stuff exists but we definitely need turbulence in clouds
Itâs normaly (and finally) fixed on the last build
That depends on how they define âfixedâ, and what the original bug report stated was wrong.
You still cannot resize the bottom of the ATC window, where the responses are, which I would say is arguably more important than the chat window above it.
If I recall correctly, those past comments were about updating the Aviator Edition aircraft (which are largely Local Legends and Famous Flyers) to being 2024-native. As far as I know, these are the only default aircraft in 2024 that have not been at least somewhat brought up to 2024-native standard. But those comments werenât quite the same âdoesnât make senseâ perspective as much as it was âwe donât have contracts with all of those LL/FF developers anymore, and some of those development teams no longer even existâ but I donât think there was ever a question as to whether updating the Aviator Edition aircraft âmade sense.â
