I just got forced into the new Oculus software, and the dreaded “plane flicker” is back with no relief that I can tell. I opted out of the Beta earlier which fixed it. Now it seems Facebook payed no heed to the problems with FS on the beta and the full release has made VR absolutely unplayable. Anyone else have these same symptoms?
Yes. Same situation here. Incredibly disappointing.
Same here. Before this update, the beta was causing problems. Now that the beta has become the regular version, there is nothing to revert to to avoid the flashing issues.
I have to say that MSFS is the only program that has this issue with oculus. I’ll have a look into some settings which maybe we can change to deal with this.
The solution is here
I get it. But understand that jumping through tons of hoops and regressing drivers is another thing that can just make it unplayable. Or make other apps unplayable. Asobo, or Facebook, take note and update your app, or drivers. This ain’t some graphical artifact that can be overlooked, it’s the plane “glitching” repeatedly. Take note that it didn’t happen in earlier versions. Debug it, right?I’ll just wait for now.
Yep, I’m in the same boat with the Rift S after the latest hotfix. Won’t be flying MSFS until after Sim Update III hits to see if it has been fixed.
Back to X-Plane…
Same here, it is just hopeless, works for a month and then the next it does not. I am taking a break with VR in MSFS. I will continue in DCS but it just seems that the combination of application (MSFS) and 3rd party (Oculus) is not working out for me very well.
Facebook released a new update for Oculus. Might be beta. FIXES ALL ISSUES as far as I can tell. Yay!
The Oculus update didn’t just fix. It IMPROVED the VR experience. Flying Yokohama to Tokyo. With the Oculus Tray Tool. Just fluid. Real time overcast. I hope London is as good as this is. Cause that update for UK and London was absolutely terrible for frame rate. Yet here is Tokyo. Flawless. We will see. Good job Facebook with your side hustle…Oculus.
this shows vr is still in its infancy…will be some years before i venture into it.
Just a bit of fun, so don’t take it the wrong way - this comment reminded me of this:
I agree VR is still very early days overall and some aspects definitely need improving, but it doesn’t stop it from being fun right now and capable of delivering some truly incredible experiences. I would honestly hate for someone to miss out on it just because they are waiting for the next best thing, you never know what might happen in the meantime - the number 35 bus might have your name on it tomorrow as you cross the road!
If VR is something that as an idea generally does interest you, you owe it to yourself to at least try it out when you next get a chance even if you ultimately decide not to jump in yet.
After Oculus update, Nvidia update, and FS#3 update, everything seems to run GREAT in VR. Even London, which was putrid on its release. Biggest takeaway is that all facets do have to be maintained with drivers, especially using VR. Be back flying round in real time now! Thanks Asobo.
what is the recommended Nvidia Driver ? i am still on 457.xx? is it time to update now?
VR used to work and I have tried joining the beta then rejoined. Made sure that Nivida Driver was up-to-date. The flicker starts right when I switch into VR mode. My computer screen just flashes and the headset just keeps popping in and out of the Oculus dashboard. Maybe the Rift isn’t supported anymore?
