  1. Description of the issue:

When trying to initiate VR with Ctrl - Tab the message: "The initialization of VR failed. Please check that Open XR is installed on your computer” appears on screen.

Error happens for both Meta Quest Link and Steam VR as the OpenXR provider.

Try going into Oculus App Settings

  • General page and using the second option down from the top (OpenXR Runtime)
  • “Set Oculus as active”
  • When MSFS is ready after loading a flight and it’s ready to fly, hit Control TAB to enter VR

Or see this post OpenXR Toolkit, Remove it in MSFS2024 (I am not sure?)

Yeah that’s what it was set to by default. Tried Steam VR too with no luck so set it back to Oculus as the provider again previously.

Weird thing is VR works fine in FS2020, but not 2024.

Strange. I know there are a tonne of issues with VR. I hope they sort it out soon for you.
