Odd Network Issues

I’ve come across an odd issue I am having with network speed to Microsoft and wanted to see if anyone else has seen this or has any idea of what the problem is?

Quick background, I built a new high spec PC for FS2020 which includes 2.5Gib NIC (i9-12900k based system). When I installed FS2020 on this new PC it took forever with download speeds in the sub 10mb/s I ended up leaving the base install going all day and night! I have been rebuilding my game room so not had time to do much about it until now.

I decided to test installing the latest update on my original PC and the new PC to compare, the original is on a 1GiB NIC and the new one 2.5GiB connected to Google Fiber 2 GiB Internet.

On the original PC the download speeds were consistent with having a 1GiB connection (~100mb/s download) however, on the new PC which should be 2x as fast I was only getting around 10mb/s

I have done a lot of testing to try and isolate the issue including adding a 2.5GiB USB3 dongle to the original PC.

In that testing I have proven that everything is working fine within my network, I get 2.5GiB (>200mb/s) transfers between the two PC’s and both show 2GiB when doing online speed-tests.

I have been testing downloading from Microsoft by downloading the Windows 11 ISO from my visual studio and on both PC’s when I connect to the 1GiB switch I get the full 100mb/s download but when I move them to the 2.5GiB switch both only show 40 to 60mb/s download

I can’t understand this at all - anyone else with Google Fiber 2 GiB service that can share their experience?

Quick update, maybe it’s Google and not Microsoft as I have done some file download testing that Turnkey Internet makes available (Speed Test - Download Test Files | TurnKey Internet)) and on 1GiB I get the full speed maxing at 900+Mbps and connected to the 2.5GiB NIC I only get around 1/3 of that (300 Mbps). If anyone else has Google fiber and can test this to see if yours is the same I would love to know.

to be sure: in both cases you have the same provider, you only get on a PC1 with 1Gig network adapter a higher speed than on a second PC2 with a 2.5Gig network adapter ?
If its the case, it would sounds strange that your provider know about your home-network-speed, it only knows the router/modem/connect box/… May be there is a setting which cause that ( e.g. jumbo packages , flow controll, … ), or there is some kind of incompatibility, or something like this.
