Note day change: this event is on Thursday this week, not our usual Friday
We will be hosting an Official Fly-in alongside a group of community members (you!) on Twitch. This is an open event, free to all who would like to fly along with us and available to pilots of all skill levels. The goal is to have a great time, explore new locations of the world, and make new friends. This event is open to pilots on both the PC and Xbox platforms.
Hosted by @SeedyL3205, @Pieter2427, @simtom2, @dTwotonemurphy, and @FactualGull1036
When: Thursday, December 15 @ 2000Z for two hours.
Where: The Official Twitch Channel of MSFS
There will also be a Discord event channel open for those who want to voice chat with other members of the community.
Please see below for details on the upcoming Fly-In Event:
For our final Community Fly-In of 2022, we will be flying a very simple flight from Celle Air Base in Germany (ETHC) to RAF Lakenheath in the UK (EGUL). Since this is such a basic, straight-forward route where nothing could possibly go wrong, we will be supplementing the fly-in with a special in-flight entertainment video featuring the voice acting talents of several prominent members of the Microsoft Flight Simulator player community including Chewwy94, twotonemurphy, FactualGull, Alyson Johnson, and ObsidianAnt.
This is one voyage where you most definitely DO NOT want to pack any Mosquito repellent!
Note: for long-time viewers of Community Fly-In Friday, this is the same story we broadcast at Christmastime last year; however, this year’s version is a new edit featuring almost entirely new footage! For those who watched last year, we kindly ask you to not spoil the story in chat for any new viewers.
Pilots on PC can download the .pln file here:
2022-12-15 Celle-Lakenheath.PLN (1.6 KB)
We will be starting at ETHC. Please load your aircraft 10 minutes prior to take off and taxi over to the runway in preparation for departure.
Recommended aircraft: Beechcraft Bonanza, Beechcraft Baron, Diamond DA-62, Dahar TBM 930, or any plane of your choice with a cruise speed of 170+ knots.
Selecting a plane equipped with an autopilot is highly recommended so you can watch the in-flight entertainment without having to concentrate on your flying.
Please adhere to the following settings so you can see everyone / be seen by everyone.
|Live traffic||As preferred|
|Time of Day||Daytime|
It is advised in this flight to turn off both aircraft collisions and terrain collisions. If you do crash, you can use “slew” mode to join the pack. If the pack will be too scattered before the first stop, we will use slew on a defined point to regroup.
To communicate with others, a voice channel on the "Official Microsoft Flight Simulator Discord” at https://discord.gg/msfs will be available to join.
This is meant to be a fun and informal flight. Everybody is welcome, no matter the amount of experience.
