Official third party addon update along with 1.9.3.0?

I’ve had a look at the patch note and there’s nothing about updating official third party addons.

Did the Kitfox get an update? or the Mooney as well?

I’m worried it might be abandoned without update once you buy stuff from the marketplace.

I think we need to be very careful here in assuming that products appearing in the marketplace are official. The truth is that the marketplace is an outlet, a store. The presence of a product in the marketplace does not mean that it has been tested, tried, removed of all bugs, and somehow given the quality stamp of approval by Microsoft. Microsoft has the store as a money making opportunity. This means that any third party product will have to be updated according to the schedule of that product developer. Microsoft is not going to update third-party products. They are going to have their hands full updating the base Sim. If I am incorrect in this assessment, I would ask somebody official from Microsoft to explain their update policy if different from what I’ve said.

Why would Asobo fix a 3rd developers work it’s down to the developers of the product

I think Telafidium is asking whether 3rd party updates which have been released through their own sites/apps will now be available on Marketplace, if they were purchased via Marketplace.

Mooney is still in the sim for me after update.

I opened a couple of tickets for the Mooney M20R, one about the default views, and one about the VOR receiver not working correctly, and both have been passed to the devs. for fixes.

They didn’t make it in to the patch, I assume, but to be honest I don’t know how tied to this update process it would be, or even if it is.

My hope is that as an aircraft/third party update becomes available, it can be pushed out to users without having to wait for an MSFS update to the client as well.

No update for the Mooney, dont have the Kitfox so no idea about that one. Asobo didn’t say anything about how many times per week/month updates are updated in store.

But still the release version? No update?

Not that I’ve seen, no. But I wasn’t looking tbh

yeah I bought the Kitfox and it came with bugs and issues,

I just looked in the ‘manifest.json’ for the Kitfox and it looks like it didn’t get updated along with 1.9.3.0.
Still on the release version.

hmm, that’s a worry

I think you should bring that up with whoever makes the Kitfox plane rather than Microsoft/Asobo. It’s up to the 3rd party developer of said aircraft to release updates and send them to the Microsoft store.

Carenado push updates to the Microsoft store - They did so with their 182 not after release. So if it hasn’t been updated for the Mooney then there probably isn’t an update yet. Nothing has been mentioned on the Carenado facebook page to be fair.

But yeah it’s not down to Microsoft/Asobo to update 3rd party aircraft.

I feel like this 3rd party stuff will eventually get out of hand.
It certainly carries nothing OFFICIAL with regards to the MSFS.
It reminds me of the Apple store. Vendors put their product there (after Apple approval and virus scan) and then pay a % for allowing their product to be in the store.
After allowing a product to be placed in the store, Microsoft has no obligation for anything except to make sure they are not promoting a scam or a product containing a virus/malware.
It would be totally up to the vendor to keep the marketplace product up to date.
Actually, I am not interested in any of the 3rd party stuff until the MSFS has time to mature.

Yep, Asobo doesn’t make patches for 3rd party add-ons. Not sure why someone would assume they did.

that’s not what I mean though, it’s more like I was expecting the third party update to be in the same package as Asobo’s 1.9.3.0 update download.

Like DCS for example, whenever there’s an update, the paid DLC planes would get an update too at the same time.

But in this case, there’s no update from third party devs :frowning:

Personally, I do not want 3rd party updates to be tied to my MSFS update.
Why in the world would MS take on the problems of updating 3rd party stuff along with their flight sim updates. Just put the 3rd party stuff in the store, charge them an exorbitant amount of $$ to put it there and smile on the way to the bank.

I didn’t mean they should update them, I wondered whether the updating of aircraft is independent of an MSFS update. I don’t remember the timeline of when the C182T was updated.

It would be a pain to have to wait for an update to an aircraft to coincide with a sim update. I want those aircraft/scenery updates as soon as they are available, and pushed to the marketplace. That’s another bit I’m not sure about. I assume someone at MS/Asobo has to vet what appears on the marketplace, so I’m assuming there is an approval process of sorts.

Carenado create an update, deliver it to MS/Asobo, someone gives it the greenlight, and it appears as an update we can download. How that whole process works in practise, I don’t know.

Thank you for the clarification. I think Asobo issues updates before third party developers even get to try their products in that update. If that is the case, the will always play catch up.

When is MSFS going to provide official third party updates to the content manager so we can update our sceneries. I know FS Dream Team has updated their Key West airport and has sent the update to MS on Sept 30 to provide in the content manager. See the message from FS Dream Team below:

FSDT Key West updated to version 1.1

« on: September 30, 2020, 09:34:51 PM »

Hello to all,

we are pleased to announce an update to our Key West scenery for MSFS 2020, which features the following improvements:

• Ft. Jefferson at Dry Tortugas National Park added.
• Loggerhead Island with Lighthouse added.
• Added F/A-18 of the VF-106 Strike Fighter Squadron at Key West NAS.
• Added extra details to Key West NAS. Removed GA parking spots and replaced with Mil parking spots.
• Added vegetation and swamps around the Key West runway.
• Background aerial image better color matching to the surrounding scenery.
• Removed default Windsock.
• Added custom Landmarks POIs, a new feature allowed by MSFS 1.9.0.3 update.

The update can be obtained by running the FSDT Live Update, if you purchased from the FSDT website or from Simmarket.

We also sent the update to Microsoft for verification and release, so it will be available on the MS Marketplace soon.

If you mean hosting, likely never. Too much potential legal hassle.
