Offset Yoke?

Does anyone have any thoughts on cockpit setups with an offset yoke ?

Realistic as in position, but you are then sat at the far left edge of your screen/monitor.

Probably not an issue for people with a 43" wide screen, but not so on a 32".

I have always had my flight sim setup with the yoke & pedals dead center to the monitor.

What are your thoughts ?

Might I ask why you are offsetting your yoke?

I mean, since you can adjust your eye position within MSFS, wouldn’t it be easier to stay at the center of your monitor and adjust the position rather than look only at the left/right few inches of your monitor?

Or am I not understanding what you are trying to do?

I just purchased a flight panel (Velocity) with Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo support.

I haven’t received it yet, but after I purchased it, it occurred to me that the yoke mounts to the left, the throttle quadrant on the right of the panel.

So to have the panel inline with the monitor, the yoke will be offset somewhat to the left, along with my pedals.

I’m just wondering how that will work as I also use a Tobii eye tracker.

Maybe I’ll have to invest in a larger monitor.? I only have a 32" currently.

Stupid question, but I’m just curious how others with this setup get on ?

Ah, I think I see what you are saying.

That’s a nice setup!

I don’t personally have my peripherals set up that way, so I’m afraid that I may not be much help.

But, I’d suggest that, if possible, I’d center the yoke in front of you and the monitor in front of the yoke…even if that puts most of your panel to the right.

The monitor is simulating you, not the centerline of the plane, which is why all the default cockpit views are from one of the seats. So, it would seem to give you the best and most realistic viewing (available with the already limited FOV) if the world centers around you.

But, like I said, I don’t know your workspace and all that.

Very cool setup though. Please post what you decide on!

Thanks for your thoughts and compliments

I guess I’ll only know once I have everything setup.

I just hope the eye tracking still works if I’m sitting a bit off center.

There isn’t much room on my small desktop either. Another reason I decided to buy this panel so everything is off the desk.

I will let you know how it works out.
