So yesterday I was pleased to see the update and the great stuff that was made available to download. I purchased the P-51 pack immediately.
I tried out the P-51 first, and then the F-18. I have the DCS P-51 and have to first say that the MFS version is very similar in FM. It’s actually pretty great. But…Either the update itself or the P-51 doesn’t seem to like Track IR. When I first entered I had no head movement whatsoever. I got out of the module and got into a Cesna or something like that. Track IR was spot on. So I got back into the P-51 and the Track IR was working. However, a little later it completely shut down while in the P-51. Anyone else have this? I had to get out of the plane and start the sim over to get it back to work. Later, I lost the track IR in the F-18 also.
Also, the P-51 has a very wonky front end and the trim is just insane. The rudder trim seems to only work in cockpit and the assignments on my HOTAS do not work with it at all. Everything else works great on the HOTAS so far as I know.
The altimeter and climb rate meter don’t work together. It’s very hard to keep a consistent altitude between the two of them.
I did enjoy the plane a lot but am going to shelf it until they get it up to snuff. Some of my issues lie in the update itself as problems with the Track IR, and planes becoming unresponsive, then responsive again, back to unresponsive after several minutes applies to every plane I flew last night. It’s like there is a shorted ground in my HOTAS.
So I guess the update had some issues, and as to be expected, so do the new planes.

    Anyway...Nice effort guys.

There is an item in the release notes (I think ) that says that Track IR was not working correctly at times. Which as a Track IR user is concerning but I 'm working on other things at the moment so its something I will be on the lookout for!

Cannot say on P-51, but tried F-18 at active RW. All my controls were not mapped correctly, so went in and fixed those (Honeycomb BTQ), and have not tested since. F-14 avionics do not light up/work in latest release, patch out, does not work for me. Am really tired of chasing tail in this game. Have restarted PC, and ran SFC /Scannow and Chkdsk /F/R, and that seems to have done something, as some errors disappeared after that. Now going to back up the whole thing to spare drive, and install X-Plane.

You’re just going to be chasing your tail over on Xplane too. It’s the nature of the software. Infuriatingly frustrating always, but still worth the hassel…jury’s always out on that one. .
