As I understood it one of the reasons the team opted to do the engine overhaul and release an entirely new game was to allow them to bring in more up-to-date bing data. That doesn’t seem to be the case in my area. Currently it looks like the same data (from 2013 is being used).
I live in Silicon Valley, one of the landmarks I use to check the date of the data is Apple Park in Cupertino. Currently in MSFS 2024 its a dirt pile, construction doesn’t even appear to have started on the structure which is how I have dated the map data to around 2013.
Frankly given how updated maps were touted in the build up to release I’m pretty disappointed that one the technology centers on the world is so woefully out of date.
Gave Bing maps a look and the map data is there and while I know that doesn’t necessarily translate to photogrammetry, I have a really hard time believing that data doesn’t exist in a more up-to-date state.
Curious if anyone else seems to have noticed that the map data is the same or also very out of date for areas they have tried.
