I have been trying my hand at formation flying using Sky Dolly and I have to admit: I find it HARD! Not the technical, recording side: that is pretty straight forward. What I struggle with is trying to fly in close-ish formation once I have the first aircraft’s flight recorded. I am mostly only in a good position on two occasions: when I am zooming past the lead aircraft and when it is zooming past me! But I must say the old adage of “practice makes perfect” is sort of right: I am not getting to the perfect part but I am at least getting somewhat better.
I just took a flight with two oldies that I grew up with: Dakota and a Harvard. From my names for the aircraft you can obviously assume this was in the Colonies, not the US! These two aircraft were regulars in the Cape Town area in South Africa where I grew up, so I have an affinity for them.
