Welcome to this week’s flight, the 156th event in Gunpilot’s Challenging Flights.
This flight will take us away from our more traditional and favoured bush aircraft and see us tackling the harsh and dangerous West Papua jungle/mountain terrain in the big old lumbering DC3.
As if that is not enough of a challenge, the weather forecast for this flight is not great and we will have to deal with flying into mountainside jungle airstrips that may well be, in some cases, obscured by low lying cloud.
To increase your chances of surviving this very challenging flight it is strongly recommended that you jump into the DC3 cockpit and get some practice in before the scheduled departure time. Those who choose to ignore this advice may well find themselves in situations that could have been avoided by getting to know this old bird beforehand.

To assist you in having an aircraft that will have enough performance for this flight, it is again highly recommended you download and place the following free DC3 upgrade package into you Community folder (click on following link to take you to where you can get the DC3 upgrade mod)
*Again, a packaged up WEATHER file has been developed and included along with the flight plan, negating any need for anyone to dial in weather settings, as well as ensuring that all pilots are experiencing exactly the same weather conditions. The Weather Preset file is located in #gunpilots-events (click GUNPILOT’s Server to be taken there). Extract file into your Community Folder prior to launching your sim for the flight.
