I have a medium spec system, albeit with a few enhancements including 32gb ram, 2tb SSD (it was previously a very slow hybrid 1tb HDD). I have been able to run the sim smoothly, with no stutters or CTD with most of the settings in sim set at medium and a steady 30fps.
Recently the HD crashed and I had to reinstall everything, and this is where the SSD replaced the HD. So everything back, flightsim back including all the add ons in the community folder. Settings set as they were previously. Did a flight of about 1h 30m without any issues at all. Great I thought.
Yesterday however, tried a new flight, and everything is slow, lots of stutters, and freezes and the sim is generally unplayable. No changes were made between the flights. I cannot figure out what needs to be altered, I’ve gone through several pages offering advice and solutions, but none of them work. Even pushing the sim settings down to lower values doesn’t change anything.
I’m hoping that maybe it’s something to do with the change from HD to SSD, but that wouldn’t explain a perfect flight one day, and the resulting unplayable sim the next.
If anyone has any advice it would be appreciated.
A shutdown will keep most memory, register, etc. settings.
A restart will clean up and reset memory, register, etc…
Thanks for the responses folks. I’ve given the suggestions a go but still have the same problem. At present I see no other solution, so I’ve opted to reinstall the sim. Not something I would contemplate if I was still on a hard drive, but as the SSD is quicker it shouldn’t take more than a few hours.
Having re-installed and suffered the same issue. I have now come to the conclusion that the photogrametry is to blame for the problem suffered. I have an unlimited data connection at 500mb/s so download speed isn’t something that can cause problems. However, whether I fly in an area of photogrametry or not, turning that feature OFF resolves the issue immediately. It’s not ideal, but at least I can fly.
