There are moments over the past week when I have been exhausted with frustration, trying to get my Xbox X and MSFS 2024 to connect and start a free flight.
I’ve had ghost like rectangles for buildings, tarmac which appears drawn in felt pens on damp paper and an aircraft where the pilot sat roasting his backside floating before the propellor af a wingless aircraft!
I have a fibre gigabit connection so imagine my frustration when the servers in the early 4 days stopped at 95-98% and stopped delivering a working simulation to me. However I was prepared for these frustration having worked with IT, and now happily retired, but I do feel I/we have been acting as the largest group of Beta testers the world has ever seen, and from my frustrations Microsoft will have learnt an enormous amount of new information from this realease.
One week in and I’ve done a few flight but rarely do they just start without me having to try numerous times to get the flight plan added and the flight to begin. I’ve tried many things ranging from deleting the complete sim and starting again (probably4-5 times over the week) to deleting the cache for both user and the data.
When this sim works (and I haven’t manage to complete a flight from take off to landing) the graphics are awesome when seen from 40000 feet to very good at 3000 feet (when my Xbox X struggles slightly to redraw the complexities of London streets).
So far, I can’t settle and fully enjoy the experience. If in flight and gently cruising on auto pilot, if I decide to take a look at the settings, the sim either hangs on exiting the flight view or when trying to return to the flight from the setting menu. Frustrating!!
The ffight planner is a step up from MSFS 2020 and the satellite view and infinite zoom in and out make positioning so much easier to visualise.
After a week there has been real improvements and these are with the servers that support MSFS2024. Doubtless the creatrors of this amazing product are battered and bruised by the harsh words used to criticise this release. Inherently this an amazing product, let down by servers the majority of which have never had to deal with such a work load.
I’m going for a constitutional walk now to clear my head, and by the time I get back will see if my flight is still operational.
I’m back to 2020 for instance, my series x is unable to fulfill all wrong decisions made by devs (streaming planes, awful control setup which for instance prevents me from flying helicopters, low bandwidth, tons of bugs…) Goodspeed on your early journey…
I knew there was going to be issues with msfs24, but I try look pass them , there are times flying I really feel they have produced a great SIM & look forward to the future. However …
My current faults on Xbox series x are,
Game crashes when trying to choose a character.
I cannot start the game from cold start up as I always appear in the middle or to the right of the fuselage & I’m stuck with none of the buttons working .
If I spawn randomly in the sky , the plane is not fully loaded & is uncontrollable.
I would be interested if anyone else is having these problems? Or knows a fix to them.
I had to keep going in and out of the sim (deleting the reserved space every time) to get character creation to eventually work. As long as you’ve got error guy, you can’t do cold and dark
Same, I use it still but just for clicking, not panning around, I use a little scroll wheel on my joystick for that for time being, hopefully this is one of the things they fix in the next patch.
Exactly same issue when outside of aircraft walking around, its impossible with the mouse to pan around, just goes erratic.
Still not working I’m afraid , I’ve deleted it countless times , loads the game only for it to crash a soon as I try to choose a character. ? Does anyone else have this problem?.
I’ve reinstalled 24, deleted my history, made sure I have plenty of free memory, Xbox update, 350 mb internet speed.
And still get the red error guy hanging out of the window lol. What am I doing wrong guys.
Shame as it a great game & do enjoy it on free flight. But want to try Carrer mode or photography mode but can’t.
IF (and I’m grasping at straws here) this doesnt work it may be that previously purchased add ons from the earlier msfs are negatively interacting. On my ms2024 all my old flight sim addons are automatically added and currently cant be removed from msfs 2024.
The Orbx london scenery creates a massive football stadium to the west of the city. When MS are ready and have gained stabilirty in MSFS2024 I shouild then be able to remove that 3rd party add ons as Orbx have done nothing about correcting it!
PS the red error guy means your missing some files from the download - a connectivity issue.
Is your Xbox wireless or wired with an ethernet cable to your broadband router?
Here we are discussing MSFS 2024 on Xbox (PC may differ), but there is no store page available when using this, and the Marketplace is currently closed.
So I’m not certain to what you are referring to regarding crating or downloading a character.
Im referring to the Xbox version mate, if you browse to the game on the store (from the console dashboard) you will see it listed as “Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Addon Support”
Hi - I had the add-on support installed at the initial outset of installing MSFS 2024, but where is this bit about crafting or downloading a character, or are you referring to the Customise Identity section?
Either way the red man is mentioned on some other thread in the forum, to be a glitch on the downloads made during the early days of the release
