Meta Quest 2. Why I installed this app I don’t know? Never been able to get to grips with it, and you have to alter the settings inside VR, how can you see your keyboard with headset on? I left it, but did not realise the app was causing FS VR to CTD? And just realised OXRT was starting automatically when starting FS. I NEVER agreed to this option, and have now deleted this app. I found this out from Event Viewer list. Now, FSVR starts OK, and I think the VR looks quite good. OK, not as good as 4K with ultra settings, but don’t expect this. It is fairly clear, sharp, and decent frame rates. Can anyone explain the point of this Open XR Toolkit, and why it was conflicting with FSVR? Thanks
The “point” of it is very clear, to give the VR users who are capable of using it the tools of which to improve their experience. I, for one, have been using it since it first came out, it was a game changer at time due to the nature of what it’s original intended use is for, to allow higher graphical settings with resolution adjustments.
There’s a reason why the main thread has over 3000 posts, because many many users are very happy with this incredible FREE tool, if it doesn’t work for you I’m sorry and I can’t help, but please respect the vast majority are very happy it.
If you used it, you agreed to auto start. The OXR Toolkit opening screen, first item, allows you to disable the app if you don’t want it to run. It’s not a question of the freeware user agreeing or not agreeing to anything. If you don’t like it, uninstall it. But do not imply some sort of deception when there clearly was no such thing.
Seems like you’ve jumped the gun on trying to dive into Open XR and you don’t have your muscle memory/ VR headset experience up to par. It takes time to learn and become oriented while handling task while wearing a VR HMD. If you find having to operate and reach a keyboard is too much, then I would advise grabbing one of these.
The OpenXR menu has been made simple enough to integrate CTL F1,F2, F3 navigate/scroll while wearing a VR HMD. It takes a little time to get used to, but with enough experience it becomes second nature. As far as your crashes I highly doubt from your lack of experience that OpenXR is causing the conflict, but more so user error. Take your time, READ everything on the FSR menu and most importantly read through this thread.
I run TAA also, but because I prefer the gauges/screens as sharp as possible. I’ve not experienced ghosting though, just a slight blurring of glass panel displays. I7-10700, RTX 3070, 32 gb ram, Reverb G2.
You’re probably using a super old version from before it was compatible with SU11, DLSS and friends. Seems to be working for the majority of users here, so the problem seems specific to you.
There is a very extensive website explaining how it works, so don’t give me the “I never agreed to this” while it’s very clear that you are not paying attention. Other users already called you out on this absolute b.s comment.
There are instructions on the website to report issues (like the crash you are experiencing), aka the constructive approach as opposed to just complaining and bashing a free software that several people have invested their own free time into.
I have now downloaded the latest version of Open XR Toolkit, hopefully it will not cause FSVR to CTD. Despite what I said, I will start to get to grips with using OXRT. My VR in FS is quite good without OXRT, so if I can improve on it further with OXRT then VR will be more enjoyable in FS. I still enjoy FS in monitor mode 4K ultra settings, and especially on my 4K 55’’ LG TV.
I tried to get OXRT to work, but I am unable to get the menu to appear. Made various checks, Open XR (RegEdit check) Safe (legacy) mode check, other checks, from troubleshooting OXRT website. Nothing found to get the menu to show. I am stuck?
