I’ll be picking up all my components in a couple weeks , so I wanted to get some feedback on the specs and how well it can handle the demands of MFS…
AMD Ryzen 7 3800x
Asus X570 TUF Gaming Plus (WiFi) AMD AM4 ATX Motherboard
G.Skill Ripjaws V 32GB (2 X 16) DDR4 - 3600Mhz
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 graphics
Inland Premium 1TB SSD M.2
PowerSpec 850w 80 Plus Gold ATX fully modular power supply
Lian Li Lancool II Mesh case
Windows 10 Home
It seems alright for now, you will have the ability to upgrade to ryzen 4000 when it releases in 2-3 months (possibly sooner).
What resolution are you planning to run?
If my 5 year old pc can run on high with 2 settings lowered only on 1080p, im sure you will be fine with new pc.
If you plan to run at 4K that 3070 probably isn’t enough, but other than that you should be solid!
Consider getting a NVME drive that supports PCIE4 since your motherboard probably supports that.
3070 shsouldn’t bottleneck a 3800x even at 4k. The only way I can see a potential bottleneck is in a VFR steam gauge plane, like the 152 / classic 172.
No need to go for a 3080 unless you are also planning on going Intel. However it is not worth it to go Intel at this price point as you would be looking at a 10600k equivalent, which will give overall the same performance as a 3800x as MSFS only scales up to 8 cores mostly.
Looks good to me, but I gotta ask: do you really need X570 vs B550?
Also keep in mind the 3070 might launch as late as Oct 31 as AFAIK they’ve only said “October”.
Good build, but don’t get a 3800X. Get a 3700X and enabled PBO, it gives a 1-4% performance boost equivalent to 3800X.
Agreed. PCIE 4.0 on B550 is available for GPU and NVME so you really dont need X570. Plus chipset fan, which isn’t ideal on X570.
@AirStew0620750 here you go! https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BDwzzN No GPU included but yeah get a 3070 or 3080!
In AAA gaming my rule was to spend 1/2 of what you paid for your GPU of choice on your CPU.
For flight sim I would put the rule at 3/4 of what you paid for your GPU on your CPU and you seem about there.
Will probably be going with a 34” 1440 Ultrawide.
I got a good price on the x560…around $160. Trying to futureproof a little.
Also, I was told that Microcenter will have the 3070 on 9/24
At the moment it is hard to know what are the best components for a pc build to run MFS
a lot of people with high end rigs are not necessarily experiencing better results
May be best to wait till the sim gets a few updates
