Asobo, please please PLEASE give us the option to block people. Trying to enjoy group flights and people like this keep showing up
Blocking them on the Xbox app doesn’t work. Trolls and griefers tend to do this when there’s a live streamer streaming because they want their 15 minutes of “fame”. I honestly have no idea what harm such a feature would do

Makes total sense, normal thing for something providing online services.

Totally agree. Or maybe block or hide for 24hrs/48hrs/72hrs etc.

I’d expect many onlibe games are plagued by this. It’s their version of grafitti.

Using the Xbox app - you can block someone - but it doesnt seem to carry over into MSFS. Can this be checked please?

100% agree and I’ve never had success in MSFS blocking people on the xBox app or console app.

Note also that just because you see a large jet, doesn’t necessarily mean they are flying a large jet. It can also be model matching. Though in the OP’s image that means the “offender”, and the one viewing it both have the same addon aircraft installed. I don’t think the C17 is a default aircraft.

EDIT note: this was merged from another post.
I very much enjoy and play in multiplayer almost exclusively, and while the ‘Create Group’ facility is quite useful for closed group only flying, it does have limitations, eg on the size of the group and also limited to friends.
I would like to an option to have an Exclude Players option where you can add players who you do not wish to be visible to an Excluded Group.
Primary reason for this is to remove the hideous unpredictable nature of model matching that often occurs.
The worst cases of this I frequently see is many instances of an Airbus replacing every jet model that you don’t have (often resulting in having to see ‘hovering Airbus’ models replacing harriers or other such VTO aircraft you don’t personally own)
Even the beautiful DC3 model can become a tail dragging airbus if you don’t have every custom livery installed!
Also it it would be an instant solution if the need arises to block an antisocial player
For me I would love to have this option as a solution to the above and many other ‘immersion breaking’ scenarios.
Not sure it would or could be implemented, but perhaps it could be considered for FS2024 if enough votes…?

It would certainly stop those griefers who turn up at group flights just to be a nuisance.

Block the unwanted if it is intended disruption, but if it is unintended through Mismatching models or unsynced environments is it possible to check?
Why? :
Years ago we tried to use fs 2004 on LAN during the Dutch Milsim events. The goal was to fly heritage formations with Dutch F16, F104, Hunters Spitfires etc to show the public. It did not work as intended even with matched setups. It showed a Cessna 172 with mach 1.2 , rain on one screen, tropical weather on the other while the third in formation almost hit the mountains that we really really have in the flat Netherlands (Dutch mountain song?). It also happened that we only saw a pilot with a propeller in front of him/her zooming trough the virtual skies.
So this could be a netcode problem or a sad person…
In this case, the guy was using slew mode to constantly position himself on the streamers nose. He was in a C17 (which t even showed on his label). He also used a 747 to do the same thing.

Yes, I’ve seen people like that a few times. One person seems to have some kind of vendetta with the streamer in question. Very sad.
What harm is there in blocking a user from appearing in YOUR flying session? None. It is my choice if I don’t want player ‘C’ not showing up on my screen, but players ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘D’ showing up. The blocked player wouldn’t even know they are blocked.

Exactly this. I don’t understand why Asobo should be concerned with our choice not to see another person in the sim, whether we accidentally block them or not. It’s my choice, and therefore my problem if I accidentally block someone. And even so, if I’m trying to block someone, I’m doing it for a reason. Asobo seem to live in some fantasy world where they think all MSFS users are good people.

Let me be absolutely clear here. I’m not trying to block someone because of terrible model matching. I’m trying to block someone who is trolling, and using slew mode to constantly reposition themselves so they can disrupt the rest of us in the group.

In the mean time, I wonder if there’s a way to manually report problematic users like this, where you can link to videos showing what is happening. Maybe through the Xbox app?

…and what would be the consequences? A warning? A strongly worded E-Mail?
Me thinks the whole blocking from YOUR flying session is the way to go.
I don’t disagree, but I’ll direct you back to the first four words of my post.
The major downside of Multiplayer is that is dependend on other people (duh!). Unfortunately there are too many people out there whose only joy in life is taking away joy and happiness from other people.
For that reason I stopped playing multiplayer games or the multiplayer portion of games over a decade ago. I was completely fed up with the despicable human beings I encountered on a regular basis. Threads like this reassure me that I’ve made the right choice.
It’s the Wargames approach: the only way to win is not to play.

The point is that ‘reporting’ someone is problematic because:
Easily abused; can cause unwarranted bad reputation,
Requires intervention from a third party,
Very difficult to enforce fairly,
Is time consuming.
