Options for contrast, brightness, gamma, hdr, sharpness level, color saturation, etc

I agree, some ingame options would be useful.

But with regards to the Freestyle options for Nvidia cards, I’ve been using those for the past few months and have not noticed any impact on performance at all.

Try them and see what happens on your system.

Could this get some more upvotes? Literally every new patch there will be several complaints regarding the tweaks to the sharpening filter. Some people like the oversharpened look, others dislike it, as well as the halo ringing and the shimmering it can bring. Clearly one solution will not please everyone at the same time.

Most other games I see using AMD FidelityFX CAS have it as an option in the graphics settings. We should be able to completely turn it off or on, and adjust its intensity. Same goes for the awful chromatic aberration effect in the hangar.

A full set of options like this would be great. But an even simpler change would be useful in the meantime: make the Sharpen post-process filter optional in the graphics config screen. You can manually set Sharpen to 0 in UserCfg.opt which greatly improves the look of clouds in my opinion, but the setting is reverted whenever anything else is changed in the graphics settings.

Moderator Edit: This post was merged from another topic.

I don’t really like the sharpen filter so can I ask for an option to disable it in the graphics panel inside the sim?
For the time being it can only be disabled from the UserOpt.cfg, but if I change anything in the graphics settings it’s enabled again.

HI all,
I just love the scenery in MSFS, so I am always looking to make the landscape look as real as I can get (hopefully not too much blur effect), was experimenting with filters and shot these few in game clips, would like to ask, would love for a third party to developer to make an addon for in game settings, especially the tilt shift and colour options?

Thanks, any suggestions welcome

The suggested options might help solve the grey clouds too

Really hope they add a sharpening slider and some HDR settings as well, voted!

I really need Gamma setup with my vive pro 2 (known “issue” with blacks, very nice blacks but too dark sometimes ^^)

Sad that it’s almost 1.5 years since launch and not a single option to fix the overexposure and change white point, etc in HDR. Sigh.

They simply do not care. The eye adaptation, even when set to 0 in .cfg is horrible.

i am still looking for the brightness slider. lightings are too bright and therefor really look washed out. wasnt there before SU5.

Just as the title says. This should not be too hard to do, but seems essential to me.

I moved this to the #virtual-reality-vr:vr-wishlist category, where it is now voteable.

Note: There is an existing wishlist post for a slider for brightness in particular:
https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/i-wish-to-have-a-brightness-slider-in-vr-mode/342994

There is also a wishlist topic in #self-service:wishlist for such sliders applied across the entire game:

In the meantime, you can use Nvidia control panel to adjust, that’s what I do. Works good for me.

Nvidia control panel does not affect screen in VR.

i have pimax 8kx which has brightness slider and colour slider. If op wants a brightness slider to solve the white saturation then ive found it doesnt work very well. If you reduce brightness then the cockpit becomes too dark.

OP, why do you want such sliders?

They’ll need to sets of sliders then, because what Ive noticed if you adjust colors etc to make the outside look good then the cockpit looks bad and visa versa… they just need to fix the lighting in the game thats whats really broken.

Hi,
Exactly. The brightness slider in PiTool does not work for me.
I would like to adjust Gamma, like you can in DCS to get rid of the whiteout when looking from inside of a cockpit. Presently the the eye adaptation does not work well in MSFS and the outside world is overexposed, even when the eye adaptation is set to zero in the userCfg.opt file.
This happens with both my Pimax 8kx as well as my Valve Index.

There needs to be separate control for the Inside and the Outside of the cockpit.

Then users can set it for their own Individual needs, and perceived Correctness.

One size does not fit all !!!
