Orbx - KSBA - Santa Barbara, CA

I’ve read all of the complaints about London City issues and they seemed warranted for sure. I had purchased Orcas as I had it before and it was good value for previous owner. Now, I just purchased KSBA through Orbx Central, as a previous owner, again great price. I loaded up a flight there and literally spent the first 45 minutes, “walking around” with the showcase drone. The detail, sounds, look and feel are outstanding. Whether you already have it for a another simulator or this would be a new purchase, I highly recommend!

Additional Comment: The night lighting. Excellent!

I hadn’t previously purchase Burbank but am likely to with how good Santa Barbara looks in the sim.

Are these newly launched in Marketplace?

Agree completely!

I didn’t look there. I use Orbx Central because of the discounts to previous owners. I really like their process for purchasing and keeping titles up-to-date. I don’t see myself using anything but that for their titles.

ORBX put out a notice yesterday that said “pending updates and new releases in the in-sim MSFS Marketplace have been delayed until at least 1 September”. Just FYI, as I was wondering the same thing.

Just a warning about Orbx Burbank… there is an issue with the performance, they are looking into it. I purchased Santa Barbara and Burbank… SB is great with no issues, in Burbank my frames went from 40–50 down to 8-10 fps when starting to taxi.

Hey, thanks for the heads-up. I think I’ll monitor the situation pre-wallet.

I had the same issue with KBUR. However, someone suggested opening your content manager and scrolling down until you see KBUR. Click on the scenery and click on the version. Unclick and close the content manager and then try the scenery again. As crazy as it sounds , I did it, and when I went back to the scenery my frame rates were fine. I have no idea why but it worked.

I love KSBA as well but was disappointed that the taxi signs are incorrect and MSFS just instructs you to taxi to the runway without any taxiway routing instructions.

Does anyone know how to register to the ORBX forum. There is a signin for current members but no way for new member to register.

I also noticed the incorrect taxi signs, but at least you can read them from both directions, unlike most airports. I would like to, someday, be able to use real world taxi diagrams to find my way to the FBO.

I landed at KSBA (with this scenery installed via Marketplace) just after dark last night and saw no night lighting at the entire airport, just a sea of darkness with only runway and blue taxiway border lights. :frowning: I wonder if it starts at a specific time of day or didn’t recognize that sunset was going on?

Maybe SU9 broke the scenery? I have that add-on… I’ll have to check it out this evening. Usually it is quite a nice add-on.

Yeah it’s usually great in the daytime! I’ll check it out again later, before & after sunset.

(Or I might have some horrible scenery conflict…)

It is dark but I’m not sure if that isn’t by design. I flew a loop around the airport and the terminal area is very well lit including the apron. You can see that at the other end of the runway you are landing on in your picture. To the left is the GA area and it has some building lighting but not on the apron. That could be how it really is, not sure. All of the dark in the middle is just dirt so you really shouldn’t see much there other than taxi and runway lighting. Had you not pointed it out, I’d probably not really thought much of it.

Here’s what I’m getting currently, in day vs night. (It doesn’t help that the Sting S4’s landing/taxi lights don’t seem to light very much.)
