Orbx v2 London City Pack problems with World Update 3 - they're still there!

Hi

As instructed I uninstalled the London Scenery Pack when World Update 3 was released.

Orbx are now saying that a new version is available that is compatible with WU3.

I just installed it and it is awful. For instance

  • a lot of shimmering/flickering when you are close to the ground
  • areas with no buildings at all, just flat textures
  • 2 London eyes - the Asobo one and the Orbx one

I can’t help thinking I must be doing something wrong as if not there is no way London City Pack is fixed. I deleted the manual cache. No difference

I turned off photogrammetry and it looks better but still two London Eyes and so on.

Anyone else experiencing this.

I downloaded from OrbxCentral and the version is v2.0.0

Did you use the configuration button that comes with it on Central?

Yeah, I just found that thanks. All good now. The Orbx models look great. The Asobo photogrammetry is disappointing though and takes forever to load on my 20Mbps connection. Hopefully it is caching. I would use the manual cache to just get the whole of central London but like others I find that it CTD whenever I try to download.

This would be an ideal place for a manual cache, but they need to fix that eventually so it doesn’t CTD.

(Once if found the configure button) I find the Orbx buildings works really well with the photogrammetry, although they do tend to make it look extra grey.

I, too had reinstalled the latest ORBX London City Pack update (but from the MSFS Marketplace). As with the previous poster, I too found a double London Eye, totally flat areas, small mountain peaks etc. That said, there was no “configuration button” associated with the Marketplace download of that update (as there apparently is if one uses ORBX Central). So… after seeing that there STILL is problem with the new update and World Update UK and Ireland, I once again deleted that ORBX scenery from my Content Manager. Mike

I read somewhere that the configuration button is not on the Marketplace edition. And that also this edition had not been updated for WU3. I don’t know why this is as MS and Asobo seemingly work closely together, and I don’t think you can choose to run FS without updating to the latest version can you?

The WU3 photogrammetry is horrible. Compare central London to Manhattan

No idea guess it’s in Microsoft court now, as they are adding multiple options for the Orbx London city pack via the in sim marketplace. Marketplace are always behind.

When we will be able to download london marks again?

Depends if you got it on the in-game Marketplace or Through OrbxCentral. If you got in from Orbx, then there is a configuration button to tell it what version of the sim you have. If you got it through the marketplace, as far as I know there is no published eta yet. See posts above for more details.
