Outer Banks Scenic Byway (North Carolina, USA) {Kitty Hawk/Wright Brothers, Lighthouses, 7+ BTR POIs}

Hi!

This week we’re heading to the birthplace of powered flight: Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. We’ll depart from the location the Wright Brothers first flew their Wright Flyer, just east of runway 21 at KFFA. From there we’ll follow the Outer Banks Scenic Byway along the coast.

As a bonus – and as a nod to my Instrument Rating knowledge test later this week (!) – we’ll cross over the only remaining LF/MF Airway outside of Alaska: G13. (Skyvector link showing location of this airway on an IFR chart.)

See you there!
Jules

P.s. For the curious, LF/MF means low-frequency/medium-frequency, such as a non-directional beacon (NDB). Most US airways now are defined by VHF/UHF navaids, such as a VHF omnidirectional range (VOR), or GPS.
