I noticed when i set my overall graphics setting to either low end or medium my performance greatly improved so if any of ya’ll have your in game graphics settings s the overall tab set to high end try setting it to medium or low end that should help so far medium suits my gaming pc just fine and i can still see the weather affects pretty good
I think the presets are a good “baseline” to find one that works for your system.
After that you can increase / decrease the quality on certain aspects as you see fit.
Not all affect CPU and not all affect GPU so it’s finding the right balance.
Example on Ultra with everything maxed out, my GPU sits at about 70% utilization so I can increase the render scaling to improve the quality which brings my GPU load up safely.
Another scenario is trees. Some may not care for tree quality since they aren’t much of a factor in the sim so turning the quality to low and increasing say the clouds which do matter to high or ultra is a good trade off.
It all comes down to user needs and their hardware limitations.
That’s what i was talking about
I can have most everything on “Ultra”, but it’s the Terrain LOD setting in combination with photogrammetry that most effects performance, because it hammers the CPU main thread.
This is an excellent video for setting graphics. I used to have my setting up pretty high until I watched this. You can hardly see a difference with some settings, so this should help you get them dialed in nicely.
I love this channel. Most of my graphics settings changes have come from there. Good stuff.
Don’t forget to check traffic tab and set those to what you like. Those are really demanding since su9 for me
I have them set at 0 but you can try what you find best. I rather have the sim running smooth than unstable, those settings makes my sim unstable on ground at airports same with photogrammetry as already mentioned.
Looks nice, but I’ll probably stick with the official driver installer to avoid any potential problems these custom installers may create. We should remember, most of the Nvidia Subdrivers are only activated when needed. Just because there are there, does not mean they are using system resources enough for you to even notice in MSFS.
I’ve updated his way for the last couple of months. Works fine each time. It’s safe.
He got the Background Application Max Frame Rate setting totally wrong. It doesn’t effect the framerate of background tasks, it effects the framerate of the simulator when it is the background task - for example if you bring a browser window to the front
Hey, for me running 3090 + 10900k <4k- NV control panel and half refresh rate gives me the smoothest performace. I’ve tried all the other combos but always return to this. On my monitor that’s about 37 FPS. I turn off vsync in game. TLOD obviosuly is the biggest killer. I wish there was a mod that could just turn TLOD to 100 when you go below 3000. For me I can run 400 no problem (and it looks great) about >3k or so. You can actually just go into setttings and change it without restarting the sim and have an immediate effect- just kind of an immersion killer. This is with AIG at 100%. I’ve noticed a bit of a difference with OLOD at 100-150- seems like things (taxi signs etc) pop in more? My favorite test location to get these stats is FT KLAS with 737. Always a constant WIP… Hard to get and keep this sim stable with a bunch of addons.
