Painfully slow download for install

Does anyone have any idea why on my 500 / 50 connection im getting 15Mbits/s download speeds? I have tried all the things in the help section and nothing is changing it, Any speed test i run I get full speeds, if i download a game on steam i get full speed, I started at 1pm this afternoon a fresh install and im only at 44Gb, this is just embarassing.

I’ll add to that a very slow install for the latest world update. It seems that this is not particularly good advertising for Microsoft’s cloud sales. Hour after hour after hour. Imagine if you were a business trying to rely on these servers.

I just cant believe it, I use azure for work (dev) and never seen anything like this.

Downloaded yesterday and it maxed out my 30 Mbits/sec connection for the whole 22 GB.
Maybe there was a hiccup when you tried.

Its been like this for nearly 24 hours! I have a 500Mb connection and im getting less than 15

I have 250GB DL speed and have confirmed on two speed tests it’s pretty much what I’m getting. But on this update, I’m averaging between 19-23 Mbits/s, so clearly the bottleneck is on the server side, which means Microsoft.

I’m guessing it is a implementation of limiting download speeds like what NetLimiter would do in the Zendesk suggestions. When I was installing some things earlier in the month, I experienced the same speeds, so I don’t think its an issue with the servers being bogged down.

Same here, gigabit connection that is confirmed with speedtest.net
Downloading at max 13Mbps…
This is really sad…

Also having the same issue. I get 200Mbps through my ISP, but right now MSFS World Update III is hovering around 3Mbps currently. I searched this forum for similar issues and found a few different attempts to help resolve it, but none of them worked for me.

Still going after leaving overnight! tried vpn and speeds no different no matter the location, this is just crazy.

If MS we’re doing this themselves, then it would still do it if you used a VPN, but it does not. I ended o buying a trial of NordVPN on release day as I was getting horribly slow downloads up until the last package, and then it dropped to 1mbps, and stayed there. This is on a 550mbit line.

I enabled the VPN, chose my exit point as Portugal, I’m in the UK, and I started getting 250mbps.

OMG 500/50 New Zealand we run 100/50 and I share bandwidth with 3 others in the house playing 40 mans.
Have you tried a tracert?

Ive just turned VPN on and set as Portugal, Speeds have gone down.

Which VPN are you using, and which country did you choose as your exit? Try a different country, maybe?

Which IP? (Trick question)

Private Internet Access, Ive tried loads and never get more than 15.

I used NordVPN, and Portugal.

Still going and over 12Gb left…

Same issue here

I’m in Portugal on a 10Mbps connection. I started downloading 48 hours ago and am averaging less than 1Mbps, despite trying various tweaks and a VPN. I still have 21Gb to download. I can’t even use the existing version while I download the updated version. This is painful. Typical Microsoft treatment of its monopoly position and disregard for their customers.

Same, waited 24 hours for it to get past a glitch dowloading one particular file and now it’s rumbling away at 20Mb on a 148GB download.

Seriously considering just cutting the losses and moving back to XPlane if this is gonna be an ongoing issue.

I did restrict the download speed in the game options before doing a clean Windows install yesterday. Are the settings files stored in teh cloud and is there any way to get at the settings locally once an update has begun?
