"Paper houses" bug

Hi, my skyscrapers and houses in general look like this. What is the problem? I have buildings set to ultra and my bandwidth is 40-100mbps/unlimited. I have bing maps enabled at all times and my data consumption is not even full.

It could be;

  • the source photogrammetry quality it not that high (nothing can be done)
  • there is a hitch somewhere in your connection to MS’s servers (either at your end, your ISP, one of the datacenters in between, or on MS’s end)

@TinnyOregon0293 What’s that location?

Looks like Toronto - that’s the CN tower?

Could be, but in the Bing Maps program it shows an airport in the foreground, and a much larger land mass that is not in the that shot.

Okay, the view is closer in that that. Here is what I see:

Here’s roughly the same view from Google Maps:

It’s Toronto. It’s photogrammetry. And when PG works, it looks amazing and very real. But like other PG areas in the last while, it’s been affected by this recent drop in quality that many of us are seeing and reporting, yet being ridiculed by others that there’s “nothing wrong” since they don’t see anything wrong with it.

Seriously, this is the region I do most of my flying in. This is NOT how Toronto looked in game normally. This low res stuff is trash compared to the sharp, detailed PG I used to see. In the last while, this is about as good as it looks for me as well.

Try turning PG off

:wink:

(Yes silly forum board system, that is a complete sentence… jeepers, now even computers are grammar police)

It always looked like this, seriously just compare it to maps app on windows, there is no downgrade, just a more critical eye than at launch.

I have a few stuff from LeBronto from the Alpha, it really hasn’t changed at all.

I examined it more closely on mine and I’m not seeing that those checkered looking textures. It’s not perfect, but mine looks much sharper and more pleasing to my eye. His photo is rather jarring.

You may be correct to a point though that we’re now seeing it with a more critical eye. I certainly have noticed flaws that I didn’t see before. I still contend that the OP’s graphics look noticeably worse than mine. But upon close examination, that may just be due to graphics settings. So I may have been slightly off in my initial assessment of his screen shot.

Note I have the Toronto Enhancement Pack, so my CN Tower doesn’t look like a pre-schooler’s scupture. The other buildings in the foreground are stock grraphics though.

This is what it looks like without photogrammetry. It looks like a very different place…

The two pictures look EXACTLY the same to me… different times perhaps so lighting is a bit different, and he’s more zoomed in than you, but otherwise I see all the same detail in both. In particular, look at the 4 buildings in the foreground along the edge of the “dock”… the same. What I understood them to mean was they didn’t like the “melted” buildings.

Yes, non-Bing looks totally different, different landclass even, definitely less accurately placed trees when I accidentally had Bing turned off (I think it was due to a corruption during the last update, but I got it fixed).
