ISSUE Description

Description of the issue:

Please can you address the passenger cabin lights interior toggle on and off switch for the Asobo 737max for both the airliner and business jet variants as it ruins the experience of night flights especially when viewing the inside with different camera positions. At night the cabin lights are very bright and it would be great if this could be fixed and working as it should being able to turn them on and off as needed.

Thanks

Can replicate.
Since SU5 Beta you can open cockpit door and enter into the passenger cabin.
Setup night time and assign whatever cabin lights binding:

You can’t turn off lights, instead there is like a flashing effect:

How are the cabin lights meant to look? For example when off should it be that the cabin is switched into complete darkness or with main overhead lights off and some minimal lighting from other light sources within the cabin? What exactly was the intention with this keybind option? In my opinion when cabin lights are off when it works I think that the overhead overly bright lights should go off thus leaving the softer lighting coming from other sources remaining on to give a more realistic look as to replicate what one would experience on a real night time flight.

Personal comments:
I would say that the cabin lights keybinds are only intended to act as on/off for all lights defined as cabine ones. If you want to have an option to controls independently multiple cabin lights sources (on/off+dim) as airliners have, I would say this is a new functionality, hence an enhancement request in the Official Microsoft Flight Simulator > Wishlist.
Maybe add options to the control panel as the real aircraft ?

Oh ok… If so they still don’t work at all in the cabin because when using the keybind I have set nothing in the passenger cabin area turns off.

Correct, those key binds don’t work at all in the B737, lights stay on.

Ok I’ve just discovered that these lights come on automatically when engine 2 starts up and I’ve also discovered that they can turn off by holding down the keybind which isn’t ideal obviously but at least now we know more about what might be the problem and hopefully the devs can fix this. That light coming on shouldn’t due to an engine being up and running…thats electrical if you see what I mean.

Why was this topic merged with something that is unrelated to the dome light issue which was fixed? The passenger cabin light problem is something completely different.

Topics have not been merged, it is just a post related to the cockpit dome light issue that has been merged with the related topic.

Just wanted to ask will this issue be addressed in the near future?

Unfortunately we don’t have information related to the planned fixes so I cannot answer this question. :frowning:.

Ok thanks much appreciated

Here’s a short video. Several things to note. By default, the passenger lights are on, and they are as bright as the sun.

  1. First event, CABIN LIGHTS ON. This turns on cockpit lights.
  2. Second event, CABIN LIGHTS OFF. This turns off the cockpit lights, but has no impact to the passenger cabin lights.
  3. Third event, TOGGLE CABIN LIGHTS. I did this three times. Neither cockpit nor passenger cabin lights toggle. There is a brief “flash” when I click the button, but no light states change.

I would say there are multiple issues shown here. The passenger cabin lights are far too bright. Both in internal view and in the exterior view. The CABIN LIGHTS ON/OFF don’t appear to be operating as I would expect. TOGGLE CABIN LIGHTS has no effect. SU5 sim version.

Lots of light related improvements could be implemented. Exterior lights are all too bright. I opened a bug for that issue as well if anyone wants to review and vote:

The outside lights don’t bother me tbh I actually like the brightness at night and also in real life those lights have to be bright so that the aircraft has visibility at long distances for others to be able to see you so those lights being that bright is quite accurate… it’s just the interior passenger cabin lights that need to be fixed being able to switch them on and but u agree those lights are definitely too bright for interior cabin lights.

The white strobe light gives me a headache, and it’s so bright you can see it blinking in the cockpit

Oh geez lol . I guess you can try turning down the brightness in the msfs settings it’s in graphics at the top

Regarding this cabin lights bug, I requested escalation so I hope it will be tagged feedback-logged in a few days.

Thanks man much appreciated because I love night flying and those cabin lights ruin the experience for me… even if they don’t fix the brightness straight away at least fix the main problem not being able to switch them on and off via the keybind option in the interior lights section cabin lights on or off and toggle
