Live traffic passive aircraft now properly exit the runway, however their taxi path does not extend to any gate.
Instead, at the end of their path which still seems to belong to the landing sequence, they shut down on the taxiway and become disabled objects instead of active simobjects.
FREQUENCY OF ISSUE
How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
always

Enable live traffic.
Select any large airport with traffic.
Watch and follow landing aircraft using drone cam.

At RJTT I don’t see them shutting down on taxiway, but for AI landing 34L, they just carry on off the runway end in to infinity. For 34R, they eventually taxi off but don’t reach a gate (so part of
this topic’s bug I am seeing here)
For taking off … They choose 22 and well its a hot mess as per - some are taxing on wrong taxiway to backtrack while others at the correct taxiway can’t enter the runway as backtaxing AI are blocking it
Description of the issue: AI plane behavior overall seems to be the worst of all updates (probably the worst ever). Before this update the planes would take off on the runways but the landing and taxiing to gates had issues (planes would get stuck on the taxiway after existing runway). Now the planes are taking off at random directions at least at the airport I ma flying from. The direction of take off is perpendicular to the runway and on the ramps into buildings.
Also, after landing, they get stuck on the runway. They don’t even exit the runway now!

REPRODUCTION STEPS
Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:
Using AIG Offline AI
Load into an airport (i.e. I am flying from OIII scenery by Homasim)
Let the AI planes get to runway and watch the take off.

Do we think we’ll ever get to what they’re showing off here? The patch notes seem to indicate there’s ongoing work in this area, but not much progress seems to be making into beta.
Yeah! One can only hope. But this update seems to be the worst ever for AI planes. I don’t think the AI has ever been this bad (in MSFS 2020 and 2024)!
Oh its still as bad as always … but at least 3rd part traffic like AIG or FSTSL can give us ‘real’ liveries .. other than that, the core AI behaviour is alpha-state code
That could also be just multiplayer with matched aircraft
In any way: never take marketing material as reality. Even if it’s completely created within a game it’s a cinematic setup and even if it’s recorded in realtime 4k it doesn’t ultimately mean the footage was not recorded at 30 FPS with 0.5x speed and later accelerated by factor 2.
Trailers are art on their own, so they have to be taken with a grain of salt.
But anyway traffic behavior can be way better on some internal build. The build we receive for flighting is not the one with the latest features or bugfixes intended to be released later on (as that’s the one on some internal QA environment usually). It’s a build with specific fixes and features that may need user feedback until we are closer to the actual release.
We have created an internal ticket to see if our team already has this logged, and if not they will attempt to reproduce the issue and create a new bug report. This item is now marked as feedback-logged. If there is an existing bug report or one is created, we will move this thread to bug-logged.
Very reasonable takes, well articulated. It certainly would be easier to achieve that scene with multiplayer at the moment!
I’m well aware of the vagaries of marketing but I feel like it’s useful to hold up what they’ve just showcased against what we’re flighting right now as a standard they themselves have set. Patch notes would indicate there is ongoing work in this area, which is reassuring. But the notes also seemed to indicate they were deploying the first of those improvements with this update, which is less so.
Hopefully, they are cooking on those internal builds.
(Please do not ping CM’s) here is more fuel for the fire if you need it, feel free to holler with other questions, thanks!
Here are various screengrabs taken during various tests of this current beta build that shows the stalling out of AI Aircraft on runways and taxiways causing bottlenecks. These planes could either be arriving or departing.
You can see from the pics some of them are just sitting out in fields or grass not moving. Notice the A320 taxiing thru Arlington National Cemetery trying to get to KDCA!
They also seem to have a hard time recognizing one another and just start to pile onto one another as they bug builds.
Also, for what it’s worth @Chewwy94 I’ve noticed that if you click on an Airport’s Live Traffic Info page from the Free Flight world menu, you’ll notice some of the real world flights arrival or departure info is missing when it is in fact all there when I check the FlightAware app…is this a known bug??
I’ve noticed it is these flights that are the ones that bug out and never take off or just endlessly taxi around an airport until they vanish.
An example would be Avelo Airlines flight 597 on Friday (VXP597) from KILG-KRDU. While it listed Wilmington, DE as the departure airport it had nothing listed for its arrival, when in fact it should have said Raleigh/Durham, NC. Sure enough, when the live VXP597 spawned into KILG it just drove around aimlessly for about 20 minutes until it froze on a runway.
Something to check on and let me know if I need to file a ticket.
To add onto what I was talking about in my above post in this thread…here is the live arrivals and departures board in the sim for KRDU earlier today. Notice some scheduled flights are missing their arrival airport but a check in FlightAware (where the data is injected from) show the correct and complete info. It is these aircraft, that when they go live into the sim, are the ones creating all the issues with starting/stopping/freezing/flying all over creation…..this should be investigated as to why some of this info remains incomplete and fails to load into the Sim when FlightAware has all the correct info showing….
This specific issue seems (aircraft shutting down on taxiway) seems fixed on 1.6.18.0, however other issues remain on airports which will be covered on other threads/reports.
