I started the download together with an friend at the exact same time (17:00 Berlin). I have a 120mbit connection locatd in Poland and he has something with 200mbit located in Germany. He could download with 50 to 80 mbit and he was done with downloading ca. at 19:00 whereas Im still not done with downloading now at 22:30. I get max 18mbit, but very often it goes down to 6mbit and the last half hour I got only 0.20 mbit.
And btw, while downloading different speedtest tell me that everything is fine with my connection and I got full download mbits (95-98mbit), I also could test download a game on Steam in the meantime with full download speed. Why did my friend with a german IP got so much faster download speed than me with a polish IP ? And why are there dozens of threads where people say they have faster download speed when they try out different countries with their paid VPN´s ?
This a absolutely joke, started a simple 40GB download at 17:00, and now at 22:30 I still have 26GB to go.
It seems that some countries are getting bottlenecked on purpose.
I imagine there’s some auto balancing occurring depending on where you connect from. I get 0.15mbits in the UK, but if I connect to a vpn it increases to 10-15mbits, which is still only 10% capacity.
Or that there’s a lot more Germans downloading the patch and thus putting a ton more strain on the local servers than the Polish ones… It’s still a bit of a joke though. If you have a VPN try switching out to a Polish server and see if you can get faster downloads. Worked for me switching to Ireland from the UK.
If you have a VPN, put yourself in another country and watch it fly down.
I had same problem until i put myself in the USA, its coming down now at over 30mbps when in Uk i was getting 0.12

Yeah could be of course. I tried with a free VPN some servers in the Netherlands, Japan and USA and the USA one got me the exact same speed like my none VPN connection and the 2 other ones were a lot worse (But it was a free VPN, so that could be the problem).
It´s just that I dont get it, problems after the patch are already just tradition like new bugs and so on, but that MICROSOFT isnt capable of providing a simple download is unbelievable. Since Im trying to just patch the 40GB since 17:00 I could have downloaded the whole game on Steam I guess at least 4 times.
I begin to believe that they are bottlenecking ISP´s and maybe not in particular whole countries. There a now so many people reporting that after trying out some different VPN´s, even in their own country they get full download speed. (f.e. Update is so slow! - #33 by SuperZorro2997 )
Maybe ISP´s get just so many high speed connections from microsoft and VPNs (which I guess appears like a ISP to Microsoft) might have just a lot less users, because they are paid.
It could just as easily be your ISPs bottlenecking the connection to MSFS, they’ve been known to do it in the past. Whatever the case, I hope you get in soon.
Im very happy with Multimedia. The Pricing is reasonable for Poland and the outages are very low, like maybe at max 2-4 times per year and mostly very short like 5 to 10 minutes. Had much worse experiences with different german ISP´s. But I dont know the other polish ones, could be good as well.
Living in Germany also. I have Gigabit Internet and i cant get over 80 Mbps when downloading stuff in MSFS. However when i change to VPN and select a VPN Server in Germany i get 200+ Mbps. Pretty weird
I’m in Germany and changing My DNS to 1.1.1.1/1.0.0.1 boosted my speed from 15mbits to 70mbits on a 100mbits connection in Germany. MSFS 2020 was always the only app that has speed problems
