Pausing during 40GB update?

I have just started the 40GB update on my PC. I have to go out shortly, but I can not leave PC on while I am out. The last time I paused an update, it upset FS2020, and ended up starting all over again? Not sure what to do, advice please.

I paused it halfway through as I realised the servers seemed to be unable to cope. When I resumed a couple of hours later it picked up again from where I left off and installed just fine, albeit still very slowly,

The people who tried this say it should be fine. The installer will pick up where you left it.

You already see the flaw in your argument already yourself, don’t you? Hint: How many people do you think tried to download the update yesterday? Yes, I can confirm that the installer will check the already downloaded files and will hence resume from where it left off.

That has been the case at least twice for me already (also with previous udpates).
