Payloads and Passengers

Hi Everyone,

I don’t think I understand the concept of PAX vs Payload.

Using simbrief with the A32nx mod by Fly By Wire, i can generate a flight plan, in which there is a section that states payload total and number of passengers.
For a while, I’ve assumed payload is the total amount of what you’re carrying - passengers and baggage.

However, the A32nx Mod imports these values and it’s now not really clear to me whether passengers are a separate weight to payload

Can someone please explain to me? Because if i do now enter passengers as a separate weight, my take off weight will far exceed the weight listed under TOW in simbrief.

*Oh and by the way, this payload loading section is bugged - it’ll give you the values on screen but won’t actually load them to the aircraft - you need to do that on the weights and balance screen. Fuel weights works though.

I never new that, I was just loading the payload in the MCDU . Now I know why my v1 v2 speeds were low. Thanks

 I’m glad I could help someone!!

Wow. I never knew that . When u say weight and balance screen where is that in the ipad or fuel button on top ?

Hey. What your seeing above is in the fms. You should press the mcdu menu button and then go to the AOC menu.

In here will be sub menu called perf w+b. The first screen is fuel. You click op init (I think that’s what it says as I’m writing this from memory) and then click load. It will then fuel you up to the amount in your SIM brief plan.

After that, go to the next page with the right arrow button on the fms which will take you to the weight screen. It SHOULD do the same as the fuel screen but it’s bugged and doesnt.

it won’t load you when you hit load. You thus need to do it manually through the Microsoft weight tab at the top of the screen. The moment you do that, the fuel seems to also get reset. So, for now, do your weights in the normal weight tab first and then load your fuel either through this fms screen or on the EFB (iPad) fuel screen.

*Probably worth me saying, there is no way to set your cargo and passengers on the EFB.
