Payware Scenery Pirates - what to do!?

Sorry but I can’t really discuss numbers, but it is like with anything you sell if you hit the right moment with the right product, you only need to reach the customers. So do good marketing. If all that aligns you make serious money. Only lasts a few weeks or at best three months though, so you got to be able to put a lot of effort into those periods. Support matters a lot because more and more customers check forums before they buy (and that is good). But what a developer of MSFSD DLC should never do is calculate what he makes per hour. It 21:25 local here and I and three developers are still working on something.

There have been three golden periods for FS. The first was with FS2004, the first version that sold big numbers and where there was an SDK. A lot was still sold in boxes
but stores really liked our products. Markets like Japan were still big.
The second golden period was the first year of FSX. We had a good sim, a reasonable SDK (and many ways to work around that) and above anything else the online sales options really started to work.
The last period is right now. MS sold a very serious amount of simulators, it is visually very attractive so you reach the newer, younger customers we so dearly needed. we all loved P3D but Lockheed simply did not sell a lot of those. Now our potential customer base is so much bigger that we can sell much bigger numbers and charge lower prices.

I find those lower prices important because we need people to get used to paying for DLC and doing that with prices that are close to the price of the simulator is something that our long term customers are used to, but the new user do not understand that a $100 PMDG aircraft can be very good value for money. Where possible we are setting low prices right now, we seen that we can simply sell enough. So the Twin Otter will be under $30 and Simple Traffic will be around $15. All products that did cost very serious money to develop. But it is a new market. Expensive products will come and almost all of them will be worth the money.
