PC build advice

Hi forums,

I’m London-based and considering to buy a new PC. Two broad questions: (1) general recommendations for a spec, and (2) anyone with good experience for a supplier in the UK?

I’m currently playing msfs2020 on an XBox and would like to be able to use VATSIM etc again, as well modern addons. I’d like to have completely smooth FPS on med-high settings.

Other than that the PC will be used for memory/CPU having computing (using matlab, python etc.).

Budget is about 1500-2000GBP.

Any advice? Also happy to hear thoughts on whether `now’ is a good time to buy (but I know that with hardware, waiting is always better. Question is whether something is coming up soon that’s really worth waiting for).

Thanks a lot!

As an example this probably isn’t a bad spec even if it is at the top end of your budget. Also assumes your budget doesn’t include peripherals, monitor, keyboard, mouse etc…

Thanks a lot! Any thoughts on this built:

Is the 9800x3d preferred over the 9900? Im reading its quite an improvement over the 7800x3d.

That’s pretty decent, personally I’d go for 64Gb of Ram if budget allows, you’re building in headroom though can also add it later if you find you need it.

Not current on the CPU differences, I’m running a 7900X with a 4070 Ti Super and MSFS '24 doesn’t suffer at all, plenty horsepower. However you always buy the max you can afford at the time, I’m sure either will be good.
