PC Hardware and Monitor Question

Hi,

switching from Xbox to PC. At this stage Iam configuring my setup which has the following main components:

AMD 7800X3D
Nvidia RTX 4080
32 GB RAM

I want to play in 4k and later on maybe VR. Iam looking for a 32 Inch 4k monitor (curved would be nice). I have read endless of posts about different options. Also I do not want a TV, I know that bigger TV might be the better choice, but don’t get the “green light” on the family side. Can you recommend something to me?

  1. Budget 800€
  2. Sitting in front of a desk.
  3. Mostly used for MSFS.
  4. 120 hz refresh rate. (I know 60hz would probably enough, but I have read issues in combination with TRackIR, which samples at 120hz)
  5. Probably want to go with VA panel because of better contrast. IPS…I have read that in night scenes the IPS glowing effect is kinda bad. Can’t really judge that, what are your experiences?
  6. Curved not a must, but would be really nice.
  7. Do not need audio in the monitor.
  8. Do not need G-Sync as it is probably useless regarding the FPS. V-Sync should be ok.
  9. Display Port is a must.

Your help is much appreciated thx,
Felix

This guy does a good job explaining the technology for flight sims. Hi have always used 60hz monitors with Trackir in the past without any issues. I fly only VR now. My advice is get a nice 60hz monitor since you will likely be setting Vsync to 60fps.

Since you have a good budget, I would check out Dell.

Personally I do not think it is worth going 4k unless you are going to go larger than 32in.
2k at 32in is quite a good sweet spot for pixel density. I would either go larger and 4k or 32 at 2k and either save some money or get improvements in other areas.

Thx for your comment.
After reading endless of monitor reports Ihave decided to go with the Alienware 3423DW. Samsung Neo 8 is also tempting. After all this research I agree that 4K is more suitable for larger displays.
