I’ve been having some good experiences with the new sim and thought I’d share my settings. Note that I haven’t experimented with all of the settings, not even close, but for whatever reason this is working pretty well, decent tradeoff between FPS and quality, and maybe can help some more people have a better time with the new sim.
System specs: i7-9700k, 3080 founder’s edition, 64 GB RAM, sim installed on SSD, assets stored on C: (M.2). Verizon FiOS, US east coast. Dual 1440p 144Hz Gsync monitors, MSFS on left one. Windows 11 23H2.
Non-MSFS settings
- Using Cloudflare WARP quasi-VPN
- Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling: On
- Windows power plan: high performance
- Nvidia Control panel: MSFS 2024-specific settings: left on default values
- Nvidia app: global Max frame rate 140, Shader Cache size 10GB, power management mode prefer maximum performance
- Nvidia app: System->Performance Set performance limits to voltage maximum 50, power maximum 100, temperature target 83, fan speed target automatic, and then ran automatic tuning
- No CPU overclocking but make sure XMP profiles enabled for RAM in BIOS
- No MSI afterburner or any other GPU tools
