I have been running the sim for months without issues until of recent my PC is shutting off after spending a few hours using the sim.I am running an i5 8400 rtx2060super along with a Seasonic 650w focus Gold+ PSU which is less than 2 years old and this should be enough for these components. Not sure if that’s the cause or the CPU is in need of thermal paste.I have also been hearing strange noises coming from the case and not sure which component this is coming from.I will continue to monitor this.
Did you checked videos like this one?
While you could monitor the temperatures of your CPU and GPU I doubt those would make your PC shutdown. In case of CPU overheat, modern CPU should throttle instead in crashing. GPU wise it’s basically the same concept. Therefore you should see degraded performances but not a shutdown.
Personally I would point out to the PSU which may have troubles to keep the power requirements, most PSU don’t have a way to tell to your OS how much Watts are delivered nor their temperature. So in case of issues, they may simply “shutdown” the power delivery and therefore… shutting down your PC.
Other components which may failing include RAM and motherboard. But I would expect a BSOD instead of a shutdown.
Without hearing it, the strange noises could be a faulty fan, or a struggling transformer in the PSU.
This is a serious hardware issue not an issue related to Microsoft Flight Simulator.
I’m closing this topic but I would strongly recommend to reach a hardware specialist or the support from the store where you bought your system. Hearing a strange noise inside your machine should be always considered as a big warning sign.
