I think we, the PC user, have to pay the bill for the console user. This is what i think, cause c’mon, one simulator platform on 2 completly diffrent hardware specs, that doesn’t come together. The Pc’s from all of us a diffrent. But a Xbox is always a XBox. So, it is not fish and nor meat. That’s it. For example, i always get the shortcuts from the XBox-Controller, no shortcuts of the keyboard. And i even don’t own a XBox-Controller. Very strange.
I think the console user is paying the bill for the (much smaller) PC community. How else would you be able to have this thing running with online servers, free world updates, online connections to weather services, etc. Also the amount of optimization they’ve done over the last few months would’ve never happened if they hadn’t committed to this running on a console.
Not sure I agree… PC market is very strong, console market is being tested as we speak. I personally love and play on both PC and console.
The Console market is larger than the PC gaming market. It is also growing faster. And the new generation of consoles will only increase the gap. I agree that introducing a flight simulator to a console market is a “test”. But a least it will be a demonstration for Microsoft of power the Xbox series. “If it can run Flight Simulator it must be a powerful machine.” It also sets the Xbox apart from the PS5.
The console market as a whole might be larger (it really depends how you measure it), but the PC sim market is hugely bigger, just like the strategy genre. MSFS is a very high selling game on PC, the console market is being tested now for the 1st time. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad console players get to try the sim & it looks like they have made a very good port, all things considered, but I will be surprised if it overtakes PC sales, ever.
As for how the two affect each other, or what they mean for the future of the sim, it’s way too early to draw any conclusions.
The conspiracy theories get tiring after a while. Why does there have to be some hidden agenda or world domination master plan?
At the end of the day it doesn’t matter what you are simming on as long as you are enjoying it.
Agree… I expect the Xbox console sales to be very successful with MSFS… especially with the direct advertising they have on the platform. I was very pleased playing on my TV from my couch last night… very fun! Pleasantly surprised on how good it looked and performed… takes a bit to get used to the controls. Definitely the best of both worlds.
So far , I dread to say it , but my series s outperforms my pc .
We are one community of Flight Simmers, being it Xbox or PC. Such speculation as to the finances of the sim don’t add to the community or enrich the flying experience at all. Therefore I’m closing this topic.
