Do you by chance run with another flight windows open? Because this will double your actual frame rate. I know that’s an awesome beast of a laptop but as I said a quick search on here and people with higher spec desktops can’t hit those numbers and when people claim they do it is usually because they have another window open.
No, I did that once and my FTP went up to 120 fps. I know about the second window that increases the fps, not true fps though.
Ahh I just noticed that is with traffic off and at 1080. That makes more sense.
At about $800 or so on Amazon, this was the cheapest laptop I could find that would successfully run MSFS2020. It seems to do the job.

This is essentially what I use as well except I got the 17.3” and added a faster bigger nvme2 and put 32gb ram in.
So it sounds like my main issue is my older graphics card and it not really being compatible with the one listed in the requirements. Guess I just thought because it’s running some intensive graphical CAD and modeling software it should be able to handle it. I’m guessing too though that the heating up of the laptop could be an issue as well. I appreciate everyone sharing your systems because I’m certainly looking at them all and considering a new purchase for myself on my birthday! Ha! I like Dell but also have used the ASUS gaming laptops as well.
Sorry meant to say 17.3…
Bought it as a desktop replacement…
90% of the time I’m operating with it plugged to wall. I like the sound of your system. My temp laptop from work was an ASUS and I came very close to loading the game on their to see if it would work. Kind of glad I didn’t now because they took it back away from me for someone else to use whose laptop was broken.
Good price. I’ll check it out. I also like using Amazon.
$749 without tax. I use it with an HDMI cord with a TV and separate keyboard for a better experience.
Did you download the game here on Steam? I’m really considering this because either I go with the lower price that still works or I opt for the killer machines with max performance for about 2k-2.5k on sale. Considering my present laptop works fine for my work I’m really leaning in your direction. I could do the same with a tv.
This is a heck of a machine and certainly would do it and probably handles the heat issues mentioned quite handily.
Since I’m not a “gamer,” I downloaded directly from Microsoft (although I did consider waiting for new Xbox) and never considered using this computer for any other game. What grabs my enthusiasm, however, are the group flights and meet ups. That sounds complicated but fun.
Well that’s another thought; I’m a PlayStation user and not an Xbox user but maybe since I’m considering the newer console I should just get the new Xbox One X instead. Does MSFS run on that one with the Xbox Game Pass?

geforce video recording eats up some frames.
Still enjoyable. And depends on location of course.
I think they anticipate launching with the new Xbox a version of MSFS. However, I don’t believe it is yet available.
I think I’m one of the few who never experienced a Fs2020 crash. Apart from the solved “map bug” I never encountered freezes or other problems.
As my Pc is dangling at the bottom of the hardware-chain, I had to take considerable time to tweak every single setting on a microscopic level. This is a painstaking job and takes days to finish but it resulted in a flawless running sim.

Okay after much researching all the Laptop systems (and some Desktops also) and almost purchasing the wrong Xbox console and barely missing out on the new Xbox Series x at the “Wild World Walmart Online Black Friday Sale” I took that as a sign I should go back to the idea of getting a Gaming Laptop. I had a budget in mind and I went to the top end of it and just couldn’t bring myself to go any higher (allthough some great high end systems were listed here); but I wanted to also get a minimum of the system options I desired. Got it on a descent sale from the local Best Buy and having it delivered here in a few days was an additional consideration in my purchase. So here it is:
ASUS - ROG Zephyrus G14 14" Gaming Laptop - AMD Ryzen 9 - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q - 1TB SSD - Moonlight White
Not as happy with a 14” but I have other tv’s and monitors to hook up to. Would have also liked 32 GB RAM but anyway this should do it and at a price point I can be happy about.
Thanks all for sharing because it helped massively in my choosing the components I wanted. Kept on referring back to this page.
